I was actually hoping to induce a spazz from MP+1, but it clearly didn't work out as planned. I was the spazzer in the end.

I don't think you will have any problems with 5nl if your crushing 2nl.. obv you can still lose if you play well and get your money in good . so gl

So i gave NL5 a go, not too bad. Was only running two tables though so quite slow going as i was aware of my bank roll. but not so concerned that i was playing with scared money. Session(s) on Nl5 graph below. Made one stupid play which lost me a bit but managed to stack two which helped end the session on a positive

might start a blog on the challenges thread actually, to track my progress through the levels (if i end up moving up any more at all)

First hand: I'm not sure why you would bet the flop. Sure, it's a paired board but it is suited and very marginally connected so any bet would be unlikely to get through four players who are probably all calling with any FD, gutshot or 6. You could be betting for value but it's very very thin.

At the beggining of April I was playing 5nl with 40 buy ins.. after scrweing around live( Live 1/2 players suck) and winning some money( and spending alot of it on stupid stuff lol) I decided to follow proper BR management.

In a couple weeks I had moved up to 10 nl because I had 30+ buy ins for that level, and I finished the month winning about 500+ dollars( 500 on Stars and 70+ on Ongame network) in about 50 k+ hand. Then last month I lost 100 at 10nl/16nl in about 21 k hands. Fortunately, I won a bunch of money playing various SNGs( 45 mans, HU etc) with T$ from 235 fpp storm sats. Also won some money playing my favoirte game stud hi( which no ones plays).. BUT I sent various people money online and that totalled 100+ bucks and withdrew THE REST of the money I had won for presonal expenses...

Anyways, I wasm't winning as much as I had been/ thought I should be around that time playing NLHE( Whiich I considered "my game")and my confidence was shot.

At the begiining of this month, I went back to 5nl with 40 buy ins... and said screw NLHE, the PLO5 games look so much more juciier,....and they are!!! In my last 1 k hands I'm up 13+ buy ins. I'm almost rolled for 10 nl/ PLO10( I guess) with 30+ buy after two weeks of playing PLO5 this month on Starz. When I get my next VIP stellar reward($50.. and I'm so close!!) and if I can take advantage of the 235 ffp storm then I can easily get my BR up to the 400 mark sometime next week. Obv not spewing a bunch of buy ins will help too, as well as getting my money in good and holding.

What format are you playing? regular full ring 2NL?
06-12-2012 , 05:50 AM
Only managed to play about 2k hands at 5nl so far, but I'm up just under 2 buyings.

Old BR: $62
New BR: $71.38

Current plan is to keep grinding my roll up, I still have $50 I can deposit but I think I'm going to see if I can grind it up without using that.

I played 24 FR regular speed tables for may and a bit of zoom FR. I started playing 4 tables of 6-max zoom in june and find the action there is awesome (mostly at 2NL as i was trying it out but got a good grasp now so i'll prob play some 5NL soon). In 6 max zoom there aren't all these guys waiting only for QQ+ as you just get blinded if you do that. I also played some $1.50 SnG's when my BR got up to around $50.

Just played another quick one hour session and it went rather well, got unlucky early and lost a race QQ vs AK. But made it back and more with my favourite hand of the session

Poker Stars, $0.02/$0.05 No Limit Hold'em Cash, 6 Players
Poker Tools Powered By Holdem Manager - The Ultimate Poker Software Suite.

    BB: $6.09 (121.8 bb)
    UTG: $8.20 (164 bb)

    CO: $8.53 (170.6 bb)
    Hero (BTN): $6.56 (131.2 bb)
    SB: $5 (100 bb)

Preflop: Hero is BTN with 7 7
UTG folds, MP raises to $0.15, CO folds, Hero calls $0.15, SB folds, BB calls $0.10

    Turn: ($18.27) 2 (3 players, 2 are all-in)

    Final Board: 2 6 7 2 K
BB showed 6 5 and lost (-$6.09 net)
MP mucked Q Q and lost (-$6.07 net)

Back into a downswing methinks. Win a bit at SNG hypers (GOD they are soft), and decide to pop into a cash game. First twenty hands... KK<AA, then an 80/70/3bet40 shoved over my AK open (this is standard for their 3bets)... would be the one time they had KK. Then, AA<75o AIPF, my 3bet with JJ vs an aggrofish faced a 4bet and a 5bet behind, and set over set. FIRST TWENTY HANDS. Made back 40bb over the next 100 hands then felt myself tilting so I quit for the day. 370bb down without playing badly after 100 hands. Sick.
    06-12-2012 , 03:46 PM
SB was 3betting 45% (9/20) and BB had quite fishy stats. Wouldn't normally call 3bets with this hand but against those guys it seemed a good idea. With less than a pot sized bet left on the flop I decided to get it in as I'm ahead even against two overpairs (as long as they don't block my fd).

    PokerStars - $0.25 NL ZOOM - Holdem - 9 players

    BTN: $12.50
    SB: $37.87
    BB: $32.28

    MP: $44.02
    MP+1: $30.90
    Hero (LP): $32.15
    CO: $11.65

SB posts SB $0.10, BB posts BB $0.25

    Pre Flop: ($0.35) Hero has J T

UTG calls $0.25, fold, fold, fold, Hero raises to $0.75, fold, fold, SB raises to $2.75, BB calls $2.50, fold, Hero calls $2.00

    Flop: ($8.50, 3 players) 3 J 9
SB bets $6.09, BB calls $6.09, Hero raises to $29.40 and is all-in, SB raises to $35.12 and is all-in, BB calls $23.44 and is all-in

    Turn: ($96.96, 3 players) K

    River: ($96.96, 3 players) J

    Spoiler:
SB shows K K (Full House, Kings full of Jacks) (Pre 16%, Flop 5%, Turn 21%)
BB shows A A (Two Pair, Aces and Jacks) (Pre 65%, Flop 49%, Turn 14%)
Hero shows J T (Flush, King High) (Pre 18%, Flop 46%, Turn 64%)
    SB wins $94.96

To get it in with 5% equity and win a 400bb pot should do wonders to SB's yellow line...

    Was this a spewy shove?
    06-12-2012 , 03:59 PM
    ^Given the board I don't think so.
The worst hand (on the flop) won, you were marginally 2nd best.
Although, I probably wouldn't shove, but that's me.
    06-12-2012 , 04:04 PM
With the loose 3better and the fact its a 3way 3bet pot I think it's ok to call with JTs though I think it's marginal, and I'd rather call with hands like AT, or KJ, or lower connectors like 68s because I think they play better post and it's easier to decide to commit when they make a top pair hand.

Where as with JT you will get a lot of flops like AJ5r or something where SB will cbet and you are deciding how much to commit with a weak 2nd pair hand. In this situation if you had AT I'd happily call/raise his bet depending on what I think gets more value, and I'd easily fold 86s or 75s because so much of his range now beats us. But if you have JTs you are in a much more difficult position

On the flop I think the raise is fine, don't want to call and lose equity if the turn blanks, and can't fold because you have so much equity.

If you like to play cash games start at 5NL ($150=30BI). I personally like playing zoom and you can get away profitably without a HUD fairly easily at micro. You can try out both 9 handed and 6 max, see which ever one you like best, but i find FH is nitty as hell. You can start that with 2 tables and move up to 4 easily once you get used to it. if you prefer SnG's i req you have at least 30 buy-ins or more if you don't feel like you currently have that big of an edge. you can play 4 of these min at a time no problem. glgl

Do you have pocket tracker? If not, I'd use half of my roll to buy the micros versian and grind two tables of 2n until you think you can beat it. The sample size should probably be 10 k + hands

How do you know you can beat it?
    Results orientated thinking aside.
