Didn't have a ton of info on my opponent... really threw me off when he checked behind on the turn, but I thought he might have been trapping.

I don't know what limit this is, but I'm not a fan of betting the flop, seeing as it smashes BTN's range. He's going to raise you a ton and that's going to put us in a very difficult spot thereafter. Our hand plays much easier if we decide to x/c.

As played OTR, I'm checking pretty much all the time. Betting accomplishes nothing as we never get worse to call, meaning we're just turning our hand into a bluff when we really don't need to. With more reads, we could be a lot more clear cut as to whether we're going to x/c or x/f this river. Without any info, I'd x/f most of the time, unless he bets under 1/2 pot, where I'll probably make a crying call. I wouldn't be ecstatic about that though.

Hope this helps.

I'm fine with the cbet OTF. There are a lot of bad turn cards you'll never be happy seeing, so getting him to shut down with his broadway range OTF, or at least charging him to go to turn for those broadway hands or his SDs makes sense to me.

Once raised OTF you should be going for showdown as cheap as possible IMO. x/x OTT is great for us, and x/c the river, provided betsize is appropriate.

You mentioned that OTT you thought he might have been trapping. Is this in retrospect I assume? If you're worried he's trapping than you definitely don't bet the river.

Yea my trapping theory is completely retrospect.

I agree on this kind of board J's are show down value at best.

His call PF and raise OTF could easily indicate he made his set... or he is drawing with a ton of outs and trying to take the hand down with a semi-bluff then and there and/or build a huge pot so that when he hits his hand its easier to get stacks in the middle.

His check behind OTT might be trapping with the straight or pot controlling a scare card with his set.

Either way by the turn JJ is a SDV hand and I should have checked the river and made a crying call if he put in a smallish bet...

If only I had 2 hours to analyze each hand while I played them!
