I read this great article written by a 2+2 member, and only have two questions that I need some clarification on. Thank you.

http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/32...-odds-1169681/

It didn't mention anything about reverse implied odds, after a bit of googling. I came to the conclusion that reverse implied odds are more of a gut feeling that comes with experience and many hands of playing texas hold em, and that there is no formula to figure them out and we use them to compare with Implied Odds to make a correct call/bet, correct?

Now my second question with Implied Odds, can you do implied Odds for both the turn and the river card?

For example if I'm on a flush draw with a ace and feel my opponent has the better hand currently but I may hit the flush on the turn can I use implied odds for that call/bet as well as for the river if I don't hit it then?

Implied and Reverse Implied Odds?

My attempt at touching on Reverse Implied Odds comes right at the end of that 'article':

"We should also mention reverse implied odds. In all of the above we’ve assumed that future betting, after we hit our hand, is always a source of profit. But it’s important to realise that in some spots it won’t be - it’ll be a source of pain and loss. Suppose we call on the turn with KT on Q839. Villain has bet both flop and turn and we’re confident that he has a strong made hand, so call the turn bet believing we have sufficient implied odds. We hit our flush on the river, and get our stack in, only for Villain to turn over A2 and we see that he was semi-bluffing the whole way. In other words, we’ll sometimes make our hand, and end up being the one giving Villain implied odds. At other times, we’ll call a flop bet, hit our hand on the turn, but Villain will have a redraw to a stronger hand. Clearly, we’re right to get the money in when we make our hand, but we just need to realise that our edge may not be as huge as we think. (And of course, if you like hitting on the turn, only to get outdrawn on the river, PLO could be the game for you.)"

You're right that there's no clear formula for working out reverse implied odds. It's going to be more of a feel/experience thing. (Any time your hand could win a small pot but lose a big one, you're probably entering RIO territory.)

In answer to your second question - sure, implied odds are relevant on both the flop and turn. (As are reverse implied odds. )

No. Reverse Implied Odds is about having a hand/situation in which you stand to win a small pot when you're ahead or lose a large pot when you're behind. An example is trouble hands like KJo which are easily dominated - if you hit the flop, you're mostly only going to get action when your opponent has a better hand, and if you have the best hand you won't get any more money out of your opponent.

Yes. Implied Odds should take into account all future action on the hand. Remember to weight it according to the likelihood villain will pay you off and by how much - don't just factor in the rest of villain's stack if they're very likely to stop putting money in if you hit (for example, a flush draw).
