If I could restart my poker career, I would stop myself from blowing my roll everytime I decided it was time to quit poker lol.

Cash games were brutal on my in the start

Unnecessary to say I've learned my lesson the hard way

Go with my gut, raise more (when I know i'm good), decrease calling by 50%, not listen to all the pros that are giving me advice, learn my own method.

The only thing I would change is take more frequent breaks, poker is mentally draining especially as a beginner, important to take a few days off every once in a while so you don't burn out, also helps you feel much more refreshed when you do go back to play.

I was only in 6th or 7th grade when Moneymaker won and the boom started, so I guess I can't say id go back and start playing earlier.

I would immediately buy PokerTracker.

I would have made sure I opened my account with rake back.

Would have went straight into 6max and HU cash

Not wasted time in the micros

I would have gotten a coach way sooner, it really is the single most important thing of my poker career.

Why, why, why, why, why? I am a beginner poker player who started playing eight years ago. I make more money playing SnG's than anything else; which I know shouldn't be the case....but why does everyone say this? Because, unlike me, they are actually good at making money in cash games??

First post here, waited waaaaay too long.

I would have:

-Studied a lot more
-Bought HEM right away
-Followed 20 BI bankroll management, and moved down when needed.
-Have a 3-BI stop-loss

By studying, I mean studying period. I studied maybe 2 hours my entire poker "career"
I should have studied in the beginning when all I could think about was poker.. and not wait until now, when I have no strong will to play. I do want to eventually play again though, but i'm going to study a while before I hit the tables.

I should have focused on playing higher stakes with 1 or 2 tables with the goal of moving up rather than playing 8-12 tables like a robot and relying on a HUD.

I wouldn't focus so much on grinding as many tables as I can and would try to focus more making more mindful decisions each hand. This is much better for learning the game.

I wish I could played online earlier. I was already a winning live cash game player.

But playing online made me way better.

I would have moved up in stakes from 2NL on pokerstars back in 2008 instead of cashing out $30 to $50 every week. doh.

I kind of regret masstabling also. It's really bad for your thought process and improving your gameplay. But due to a upswing, masstabling gave me the rolls to move up to 10nl. If i only would have known to quit masstabling then.
Another thing i regret is being at 2nl for too long. If money is not an issue you should start at 5nl.

Start sooner, it wouldve been easier then and by now id be pretty good. Now it means I have to put alot more time in and learn the right was as best as I can the first time instead of allowing me time to learn.

10% of lh and plo biggest grinders are winners and the situation isnt improving. this is about plo100 and 200 and there are only a couple of winners at lh also. the only good is that all grinders can beat the rake with rb, then have the 9 to 1 against possibility to be that one winner.

if nlh gives better results, u will be sorry, if not picking but nlh. some said plo is on its way of getting more popular than nlh, stars stats supposedly, thats interesting, if true. but one of the reasons lh died,, it took me many years to finally accept that and dedicate to plo but the books were not there so early either so not all waste,, was the rake and like with plo, mostly the luckiest moved up and only some of them made it there.

random sites have nlh games that i am sorry i dont get to play. and wouldnt mind the possibility of scoring at some bigger tournaments, plus some races give extra value like that, plus more live games, eg. in vegas plo action exists but is minor, plus they have tournaments.

I would never take up the game as too much effort and time to make it worth while and even if you do there is big chance you still dont make it (lot people never get good still play for years without any chance in the long run)

would of loved to play when i hear stories about how soft games were (moneymaker)
