-Read more books before starting
-Rakeback
-Not playing in the huge $2-$26 MTTs
-Take more breaks
-Strict bankroll management
-No 'shot taking'
-Keep a poker journal for live games

control my tilt so my roll would be multiple times larger than it is now

I would have read books(oh wait I still havent done that). I still think I know everything from what I learned from the WSOP PSP game.

Seriously I still have a lot to learn. But I would have saved a BR from my winnings instead of using it as supplemental income. Now I am going through hard times I am not able to play enough 1/2 live to save a BR.

Actually read the sticky on how to beat the micros before thinking crap like "well I know J9o from MP is marginal but I need to mix up my play every so often so I'll raise to avoid being pegged as a nit" every 20 hands.

i'm pretty happy with all the decisions i've made thus far. Rakeback on full tilt would be nice though.

I'd get a subscription to a video site like Cardrunners ASAP

I wouldn't listen to 95% of the advice on 2+2, mainly strategy forums... ESPECIALLY things that are considered 'standard'

I'd spend a lot more time watching my opponent's tendencies and patterns, and trust my own reads and instincts.

I'd cut the bonus whoring / multi-tabling, and go for higher stakes as soon as possible, all the time, within a short bankroll.

Probably try and grind properly right at the start, as opposed to scoring bit in a few MTTs and getting all hot headed rushing into massive cash games purely because I was rolled.

Also, start 3-4 years earlier :P

I would have taken 4 years out of my life between 2003 and 2007, played every waking hour and then retired to spend my fortune on wine, women and song.

SNG's ---> cash ---> MTT's ---> PLO and mixed games

Learn about variance, get a grasp on how bad it can really get, and prepare

Grind really hard

Focus more on learning instead of just playing

Hire a coach right off the bat.
Range vs. individual hands <- Oh. My. God. so hard to transition

-Stop playing the $2.15 HU SNG cuz the rake sucks
-Play the $1.25 instead of 2NL to build a bankroll (I REALLY REALLY hate 2NL because of the short stacks and the crazy plays people make that shouldnt work but do work)
-Sign up for rakeback on FT
-Not open up an account on a bunch of poker sites

I am considering starting coaching.

This is a sample of my 100nl career. I moved up to 2/4-5/10nl since then.

PM me if interested.

(sorry for the sidetrack on the thread)

Is this for real or are you restocking the fish? (Not that I'm complaining. . .)

I wasted my first year in the deposit-SNGs-MTTs-occasional win-busto cycle.

Cash games ftw.

I would restart my poker career by learning 6max.
I learnt fullring first and struggle with 6max now.

i think what raze meant was focus on on moving up and getting better rather than eeeking out some meager monies at the lower stakes and stunting your poker growth

at least i hope thats what hes saying... lol

No he's saying the exact opposite... take in everything you can... work hard on studying/improving your game.. and start moving up when you feel you have a comfortable roll for the next level.
