Hi 2+2,
Ive been working on HU SNG Theory lately, as I´m just fed up with the MTT SnG masstabling I did over the last months and feel if I don´t open myself to something new, I should leave poker behind.
It was always helpful for me to develope an ABC Gameplan for every game I tried to learn and adjust from there according to my opponent.
It would be nice to get some comments on it, also if you think it´s complete rubbish and that I just should play 100% exploitive and try out ingame what works and what not.
PlaQ´s HU SnG Framework:
>50bb
Open 80% of your hands from the Button vs. Unknown (everything except utter trash), go down to like 65% against known stations and up to like 100% against known nits
Your BB Defending Calling Range is 109+, J9+ Q9+ K9+ K8s+ A8-AJ, A2+ 56s+ 22-99
3-Bet TT-AA, AQ+ and randomly chosen 10-15% of your calling range (not the pairs and more the weaker end of the range probably)
Postflop: Valuebet: Top Pair or better and big draws, against stations probably stuff like second pair good kicker
Bluff-C-Bet every total miss where you have only little chance to improve to the best hand on later streets if the board texture is not too unfavourable
check back the rest for potcontrol, not having to give up your Equity against a checkraise, but tend to bet the weaker end of this range against fit or fold players on favourable boards
if OOP, check/raise every hand you are willing to stack off (Top Pair very good kicker+ really big draws) and, depending on the tightness of your opponent some total bluffs and stuff like bottom pair. If total bluff prefer hands that can hit some miracle card that are likely to give you the best hand if you hit them (stuff like KQ on 569r)
Call with middle pairs and mediocre draws evaluate your play on turn depending on the turncard and opponents action. Mix some monsters into your calling range against aggressive opponents, who are likely to commit themselves on the turn.
30BB
tighten your calling range up a bit
20BB
widen your 3-betting/stack off range to A10+ 77+ call a bit tighter
15BB and less
Depending on how aggressive your opponent resteals, start openshoving with 15 or less bb. Shove about 65% of your hands from the button with 10bb, be a bit looser with less and a bit tighter with more.
Call depending on opponents tendencies.
I´m especially unsure about the 30bb and less part, the framework for the first part I developed from having a very good conversation with a friend of mine who is a successfull hu cash player.
If you have anything to add, critisize,or if you call the whole thing BS at all please feel free to do so.
thx
