I've spent about three months of constant, 10-hours-daily study and playing and I'm thrilled to be killing $2+$0.25 18-man SnGs on Tilt.

I hope to be killing 25NL in a year. Maybe then I can add a few bucks to my pocket but I'm not quitting my job by a long shot.

YMMV.

Basically it takes some dedication.

First things first: I would watch DC/CardRunners/Stox some video place (I watched DC and it helped emmensely).

Then you grind up from NL5 or NL10 (At least play 10K hands @ this stake just to see if u can beat it). If you can't beat NL10 (don't tell me you can't beat because money isn't worth it, because if you don't enjoy poker enough to beat NL10, you can't win as a pro).

I moved up from NL5 --> NL50 (@ NL25, 6 tabling, 6m, I was making $16.50/hr (excluding rakeback) through 25K hands) So it took me about 15 days (+5 days or so watching DC videos) from NL5 -> NL25. Now I don't believe this is enough money to live off of because you get no insurance, and I don't grind hours and hours daily, so I can stay off tilt pretty easily.

I honestly though believe after that long rant, that you can make $10/hr easily within 1-3 month(s), if you watch DC videos, and really take in what they are saying and take notes and rewatch. It is worth your time to invest that money in yourself.

I'd also like to add unless you are making $50/hr you really should not be quitting your job and even that much is a little low IMO. If you can consistantly beat NL200 6m, 6 tabling, you will probably be making enough to quit your job.

play on Full tilt and register for trulyfreepokertraining. You will get free stox and cardrunners.

BTW Deuces and leggo offer a free 7 days trial period. You can try that.

Seriously? $30 a month for all-you-can-watch poker strategy videos, covering a wide range of games, limits, and skill levels? That's like going out to the movies 2 or 3 times in a month. If that's not affordable, I don't know what is. If you can't afford to lose $30 a month, you may do better finding yourself an actual job instead of trying to play poker for pennies.
