I never thought I'd say this but: I just popped a watermelon!

...and now my hands are sticky and smell bad and there's goo all over the kitchen.

She also gets a large yearly income from her estates around the country, and has a large financial investment portfolio. While a lot of her wealth is tied up in property and good she is unable to sell, but she is also fairly liquid (financially speaking), and has large cash reserves.

I don't want to get rid of 'em, but they should stop being a state body, be purely ceremonial (the queen can technically dissolve parliament on a whim), and pay for what they use, like the rest of us.

How often is she present at the changing of the guard ? Virtually never.

Buckingham Palace and Windsor would still be available, and could have theme parks in the grounds if we didn't have jobless spongers living there, and at Sandringham, and at Balmoral, etc etc.

The estates of the Duchy of Lancaster and the Duchy of Cornwall (to name just 2 things which are personally in the possession of the royals) are worth billions.

I flipped through the news channels this morning and the royal wedding was pretty much all that I found (Canada) even during a federal election. They are pretty much never discussed here otherwise.

I musta been 19 then. I was at home after a night on the smash, my mate sleeping on my floor. My mum came in to my room at like 8 and saud she had died. I went 'oh right' and went straight back to sleep.
