Thank you for contacting me regarding the regulation of internet poker. I appreciate hearing your thoughts on this issue.

As you may be aware, in 2006, Congress barred online gambling businesses from accepting credit card payments or electronic fund transfers for the purpose of betting, except for wagers made on horse races. Since then, several proposals have been put forward to allow poker to be classified as a game of skill and thus exempt from this regulation. Recently, Representative John Campbell introduced the Internet Gambling Regulation, Consumer Protection, and Enforcement Act, H.R. 1174. Similar to previous legislation concerning this subject, this bill would establish a federal licensing authority and regulation of internet gaming, which currently does not exist. This bill has been referred to the House of Representatives Committees on Financial Services, Judiciary, and Energy and Commerce for review. Should H.R. 1174 or similar legislation come before me in the Senate, I will be sure to keep your thoughts in mind.

Hockey is horrible and dreadful to watch. I actually enjoy watching soccer/football, but hockey makes me want to commit seppuku.

edit: Hockey is fine to play (played when I was a kid), but I assume this is regarding the viewing of the sport.
