How did durrrr get so good? - Page 2 - Beginning Poker Questions

I'm not saying Durrrr isnt a great player, he is one of the best for sure. But I think there is a bit too much hype on him. Look at Phil Galfond.. He wins more regularly than Durrrr does. He doenst seem to have big downswings at all. Steady grind without multi million dollar swings. And Phil has won A LOT more in FTP since they started to monitor the games in the beginning of 2007. Also the Dang brothers seem to climb up steady without huge swings.

And Ivey is in his own league.. If you look at the number of hours these guys have put in, Ivey is the biggest winner with least hours. Just sick. Total ownage from his part. Unbelievable that someone can be that much better than others.

Some numbers:

Phil Ivey total winnings $10.633.790,40 , hours spent 4277,60
Phil Galfond total winnings $8.396.309,00 , hours spent 6548,17
trex313 total winnings $6.147.463,68 , hours spent 6948,98
Urindanger total winnings $4.770.100,05 , hours spent 8005,39
Durrrr total winnings $2.360.437,79 , hours spent 11740,47

out of these five guys durrrr has played the most hours, but won least. What does it tell you? Someone might come and argue about variance and whatever. But everyone has played hundreds of thoudands of hands, should be enough to make some kind of conclusion. Also I think it is safe to say at least ONE of those for is better than durrrr. Just compare the numbers of the two Phil's to Durrrr's. There is simply no argument about who has been crushing whom.

In all honesty, ranking best all around player, There's Ivey, and everyone else is a distant second. If he actually cared for tournaments half of what he cares for cash games, it would be insane. He get's bored with them, and as he's stated, he can make the same if not more money in half the time in a cahs game.

I would take Ivey against Durr heads up in HORSE match all day and twice on Sunday. Tha being said, Durr is a helluva player.

Why is he so good? He's a SIHB, all SIHBs are damn good. He and Galfond just took it to the next level. I mean, if you lived in a house with a bunch of badass players and just played, talked, and thought poker every single day, your speed of progress would magnify 25x.
