So I picked up Getting Started in Hold 'em by Ed Miller, and it is a great read.

One thing I don't understand though is his preflop standards chart

under late position it says to call 77-22,A7s-A2s,K9s,QTs-Q9s,JTs-87s,J9s-T8s

Now I understand all of this but the last two. What does he mean by jts-87s,j9s-t8s??

I have played for 3 months and had excellent results with just that one book.
Feel free to e-mail me with any questions.

JTs-87s refers to the following range of hands:
Jack-Ten suited, Ten-Nine suited, Nine-Eight suited, and Eight-Seven suited.
If your hole cards are not of the same suit, that is called off suit. These are referred to as being suited and connected.

J9s-T8s means either Jack-nine suited or Ten-eight suited. There is a gap in there.

Thanks. I though that that is what jts-87s meant, just that being followed with j9s-t8s seemed kind of weird.

So you are saying that the book should say j9s,t8s (, instead of -) it's just the - makes me think there are more hands in between, and I couldn't figure it out.
