Hey folks,

This isn't a hand specific question because I tend to get myself into these spots too often but I was curious about how to decide on my bet sizing and what factors come into play.

A lot of time's I'll RFI within a typical opening range and get a caller, when the flop hits I'm often trying to c-bet with semi bluff hands or value bets while check/folding or calling with weak middle pairs/air. But my question comes in with the c-bets. I've read a few books now where the suggestion is to default at 2/3 pot size bet on c-bets or barrels ( I imagine this is to represent having a strong hand either via value or a bluff ). A lot of the streamers I watch tend to go with small bet sizes on the flop and I'm trying to deduce what comes into a decision when choosing that size, like which factors I should be looking for and how to study flop tectures so I could make a more informed decision about which size to use.

Thanks

Correct bet sizing is one of the most fundamental decisions you make in poker. The general rule is to bet so your opponent will fold better hands and call worse hands. Easier said than done.

The following blog provides some approaches, using EV as the decision criterion.
