Hello, i recently lost my job and have 2700 saved up for poker. I used to play 1/2 for steady income back before i got my job, and the moment I find another one I will stop playing poker again. Anyway, I was wondering how much I should buy in for? 300 is the max. Thanks.

Is that 2700 ONLY for poker? Or does it cover other expenses?

Always buy in full(no matter what). Also don't use any money that could potentially be used for rent, food etc. Look at it as play money that you might (hopefully this is not the case) never see again.

I think that is a lot for poker but you said that you were getting 300 max right. That money should be played sparingly.

This is bad advice. Situations arise for some tables where buying in short can be profitable. I hope it goes without saying, but when getting advice from 2p2ers, particularly hard and fast "rules" like this, you'll do well to do some research to validate the answers you get.

Do you have stats or records of your previous play? Playing with 9 buy-ins, it wouldn't take much of a bad run to wipe you out entirely. Here is a simple ROR calculator that you can play around with, and I'd read more on the subject of risk of ruin. Based on your play style and the tables you play at, it may be advantageous to buy in short (and probably is in your case if you insist on playing with $2700). Your strategy would entail buying in short, even for as little as $100-$150, and playing very tight pre and looking to double up through opponents who watch too much tournament poker on TV and like to call all-ins pre with 88 in cash games.

I'm not real familiar with ss style, but I"m sure someone will come along who can give you better pointers.

I think you can`t just say : is xxxx enough for 1/2 Live...

It depends highly on Where you play / Amount of fish/tourists / your confidence at the tables / your history at the tables aka winrate.

A few months back i played every day in a small casino in San Sebastian ( spain) 1/2 2,5/5 live and it was helarious how fishy everyone played and how ez it was to beat the pool. On the other hand i also play a lot at the same lvls in the Empire Casino in London and here there is a damn high percentage u run in a reg infested 1/2 table where the play is a lot harder and its ez to drop +- 9 Buiyns...
