I was playing a low stakes MTT that was a 3.30$ buy-in. I have AhTd in UTG+1 at 55bb stack so I raise to 2bb and it folds to a guy in the cutoff with a 44bb stack who 3 bets to 6bb and I call his 3-bet.

The flop comes 4s As 4h

I check and Villain bets 1/3 pot and I call.

Turn is 5h and Villain bets half pot into a 24bb pot and I call.

The river is a 7c and Villain goes all-in for about 2/5 of the pot. I end up calling and he shows 9cTc.

I have a lot of questions about this hand. For background information I didn't know anything about him we had only played 6 hands together. Let me take you through what I was thinking through this hand. My first question is should I have even called his 3-bet? I think it was close but I'm not sure. On the flop I'm always calling a 1/3 pot bet I have top pair and I don't ever think he would have a 4, maybe A4s but so few combos I'm not worried. Also at this point I'm aware I could be outkicked by a lot of Ax hands he has but I still can't fold and the board is paired so if a high card comes that could help me. Then on the turn 5 comes and when he bets half pot I'm thinking I'm beat, I don't think he would make that bet in position with TT-KK I feel like he would check it and I don't think he has any straight draws so I'm thinking he either has a flush draw or a strong Ax hand, so I end up calling hoping he checks back on the river and then he goes all in which was 22bb into a 47bb pot and I thought for a while and I almost folded because I think I'm gonna be losing here more often than not but then i did the math and I needed to risk 22bb to potentially win around 90bb so I only needed to win around 1/4 of the time to breakeven chip wise but if I lose I would be left with around 10bb which is low. So I ended up calling and he showed T9s which I was surprised with.

If anyone's got any feedback on how I played the hand and if I did the right thing or not let me know!

assuming 8 or 9 handed, i would fold preflop, the first and second times.

getting that right is probably more important than any potential postflop analysis.

Yeah I'm thinking definitely fold to a 3-bet unless he's 3 betting really loose then maybe 4-bet bluff because of blockers but I think folding preflop is a little tight

If he is 3-betting really loose then 4-betting would not be a bluff but would rather be for value. However I would be worried that he just folds all the hands you beat.
