Hi

I usually don't post on forums but i have a question regarding a hand that's bothering me quite a lot. Recently i have been trying to improve my ranges and increase my +ev. and I have been using simulations after my tournaments to find mistakes. My question is regarding a hand that according to PokerSnowie was played correctly but i am not quite sure i understand why.

As this is my first forum post please excuse me if the following is not written optimally, i tried.

9ring bounty builder tournament, 1 hour in.
I have Jc9d in the BB (stack 120BB)
Villian bets 2bb UTG (stack 40BB)
everyone folds, i call.

Flop comes
4h 6h Jd
I check, villian bets 0.33 pot
I call

Turn comes
4h 6h Jd 4s
Check, villain bets 0.57 pot

Here i was considering folding, as i suspected an overpair or maybe AJs since he raised from UTG. But i knew from running simulations that a call would be +ev so i made the call

River comes
4h 6h Jd 4s 10s
check and villian shoves for just under 1pot

So my question is if it is +ev to call all streets with a pair low kicker do we not become very exploitable? Is there something i'm missing here, should i lean more towards the ranges i put my opponent on than a +ev play?
Any help is appreciated

Call enough so villain is indifferent to bluffing. That is minimum defense frequency. It is calculated as pot size divided by pot plus bet x 100 for %. If pot is 10 and villain bets 10 you have to defend 10/10+10 or 50% of the time. So fold bottom 50% of your range and call the top half. I don’t think J9 is high enough to call once V has barreled three streets.

At low stakes you can over-fold safely.
