but you cannot come back for 30 minutes..

I play nl 0.01c/0.02c games I buy in the minimum of 0.40c. I am usually up ahead of 20-30+ cents so I leave, considering that would be a good strategy of playing. So I leave and comeback and it says you just left, you cannot buy in for a minimum of 0.40c you have to buy in with what you left with 0.87c. I cannot return to buy in with 0.40 for another 30 minutes, why is that?

well the game you play is micro stakes nl, whose forum can be found here: http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/69...-stakes-pl-nl/

however the post you present is really more of a view, which would thus go here: http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/29/news-views-gossip/

Rathole

1.

Verb

To remove a portion of one's money or chips from the table without leaving the game.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Occurs most commonly after a player has won a large pot. Some cardrooms prohibit ratholing. Many cardrooms also apply a rule that players who leaves a table and want to join that table again after a short period of time must buy-in for at least the amount they left with earlier. This rule is used to prevent ratholing by simply leaving the table and joining in again immediately.

maybe it is time we asked the question why 'no ratholing' is in place on shallow stack tables tho.

I feel that it is a good strategy to play with.. Now that I know I cannot come back again I will figure something out.

Note this is my first day playing with real money.. started off by getting $50 by doing a poker quiz, and I played 3 tables and Now I am up $50.71 its not much but at least I am up a head.

Adds a touch of balance imo. Forces the short stacks who win to play a bit out of their comfort zone.

Nope, don't think it's time. Also, why wouldn't it be in effect on shallow tables if it is on deep tables?

Play another table?
Don't be a nit?
Buy in full?
Stay at the table if you think you have an edge?

Learn to play poker instead of ratholing.

rando, a word of advice....your first question was reasonable but posting bad beat material only serves to drag the thread towards a rapid close.

i'll post a good one

so I land AJ BB, 2 people call 0.02c and the 3rd goes all in 0.21c, I call the next one folds and the other calls, Flop is 9q4 OS, I go all in the next person folds. so the other guys cards shows cuz he went all in with 0.21c he has A6 OS so the turn hits a 2 and the river hits an ACE.

how did I do is there anything I shouldn't have done?

Wouldn't know where to start without seeing it or some hands.

- Buy in full, 20bb's is nothing.
- Don't worry about a few cents
- If there's bad players stay at the table even if you're up a whole 40c.

1. Use hand converter
2. Buy in full
3. I suppose 20bb deep AJ could be a shove ... if you are going to shove any flop then shove preflop.
4. I don't think these kind of hands are going to teach you much about how to play. The whole hand seems pretty ridiculous to me TBH ...

what is a good hand converter?

I've been breaking even pretty much.. I seem to loose if I go with a decent hand.. but I always win with like AA AK KQ AQ AJ.. but I fold a lot when I don't get hands like these.
