Hello there,

I'm pretty new round here so this question might seem a little....stupid.

But yeah, I've been MSS (Mid-stacking) for a few weeks now and to be honest, It's not my cup of tea I just don't get on with it. I want to play FR and atm I'm playing 10nl although I'm going to drop back too 5nl with my BR which is now at around 170$.

I'm not sure wether or no I was playing MSS terribly or that I just made a few wrong moves+variance kicked my ass. But I was wondering where the best place is too find some tips and advice on playing full stack .

Thank you and GL !

Also especially wanted too know at what point should you leave a table when full stacking? would you wait till you double up or leave when you;ve made X amount? Or lost X amount?

You should definitely set a stop-loss limit, otherwise you could find yourself trying to win the money you lost back and playing bad poker, maybe something like 2-3BI is a good limit but its up to you. As for when you should leave when you're in profit, again that is up to you. I would recommend that you leave a table if it becomes reg infested, and maybe you could set a certain number of hands to play when you sit down at the table?

Sounds good, I'll give those things a try i recon I'll set a limit of 150 BB's too leave with and 50 BBs to leave with if losing.

how many BB are you sitting down with ? It seems like 100BB which is full stack as you are going to leave if you lose down to 50BB or win up to 150BB. I think its problem if you leave when you get sucked out on by fish for 50BB - especially with position as you will likely get maney back ++ !

SS and MSS were designed and promoted on the Pokerstrategy.com website. Over here on 2+2, there's not much love for shortstackers and half-stackers. ("Hit n' run parasites")
Just about all the advice in this forum is for full stack buy-ins of 100 big blinds. Buying in full and having auto top-up enabled means you have a stack deep enough to play speculative hands, like small pairs and suited connectors. "Real poker", some might say.

I think one of the reasons why some shortstacks and medium stack players don't achieve much with their particular strategies is that they don't follow the rules strictly enough. If you only have a half stack, you rarely get the chance to profitably go set-mining with small pairs (not enough implied odds), or have a chance to chase straights and flushes with SCs (not deep enough to call/bet 3 streets on a draw). With a short stack, it's tough to make big bluffs too, so you can't maximise fold equity. Bad SS and MSS-ers get bored having to fold 90% of hands (just leaving big pairs, big aces and KQ) so they make the mistake of playing weaker hands. When you play deeper, you have more room to manouvre. As I said, just about all the advice you read in this forum is for full stack play. Full stack strategy... you almost never go "all in" preflop. With kings or aces AND someone playing back at you, it's fine. AK, AQ, AJ, etc is NOT. You can shove all-in with QQ and JJ, but the desired result is to take the pot down, not get to showdown. In other words, if you have JJ and shove, chances are, anyone who calls you has you beat.
