I am not sure how to ask this question, but it is something I thought about when playing poker live. When I am running bad, or not catching any good cards, I walk away to the restroom or bar area just to refocus, with the hope that all the bad cards pass. I miss cards when I go to either of those places, so I was thinking, what if I just sit there and fold without looking until the blind hits me. Is that flawed thinking? Or just sit there and sit out for 10 minutes or so and skip the blinds. It is probably better to take a walk, but I always wondered if you can just sit there and be dealt out of a good minute, without walking away.

If you're upset and not thinking well and will be playing poorly (often referred to by poker players as being on tilt), then by all means go take a walk and calm down and get to a better place mindset wise.

But don't do it to "miss getting dealt bad cards." Every individual deal is random. Every individual deal could be 72o or AA. Every fully dealt out board could be J high or a straight flush. You can't miss your bad hands by walking away for a few minutes or folding without looking for an orbit.

If you are tilting, then take a break, but taking a break is not going to magically make a bad run of cards disappear

I walk away with the "hope" that all the bad cards pass. I understand that every hand dealt is independent, but I still like to hope. I guess what I am doing is a form of tilt, hence I walk away to regroup. But is it ok to sit out and watch for a while, without walking away? I always wondered if it is ok to just sit there for 10 minutes without playing, instead of walking away for 10 minutes, so I do not miss any good action.

Just tell the dealer that's what you want to do. The dealer will give you a button indicating you should be skipped during the deal. When you're ready to play again, give the button back.

Ok, so I have seen that done before, just not for more than 10 minutes, or a lot of rotations. I will try it next time I need a break.
