I lost with pocket 9s four times today! Every time I had the dumb things, and this is all at six-handed poker, where in theory 99 is a monster. Three times it was blind v blind! I ran into TT once, JJ once, and at the end of the $1k guarantee, the SB shipped AK and I called with 99 in the BB and the river comes an ace. Hello FT bubble.

So my only suggestion to everyone is to just open fold your 9s for the rest of the day.
My set over set I ran 99 into KK on a xK9 flop. Why didn't you post this two hours ago? Lol.

And I have a question to those of you playing tournaments at other sites!

I'm playing at bwin/ongame, mostly $11 and lower tourneys, usually shorthanded. One thing I've been seeing increasingly often the last couple of months are players who just randomly spew overbet shove into small pots, like the pot will be 800 chips and someone will snap shove a 7000 chip stack. Or preflop, someone will just open shove 150bb pre (he had AQ and got killed by KK ). It seems like horrible bingo poker, and I don't remember seeing any of that kind of overbet nonsense at Full Tilt tournaments, except at freerolls, but maybe I'm just not remembering properly. I mean of course these players almost always lose, and they doubled me up about four times today but they drive me a bit crazy all the same. Are there a lot of players like that at other sites? I swear I had three players out of six at my table today who were regularly shoving flops for 5x the size of the pot.

I haven't encountered that at the tourneys that I play..

1-2.50 buy ins but then I guess that might be standard as more rec. players will play higher buy in tourneys because they want bigger prizes rather than restricting themselves to their BRs.

How are the fields at ongame? I'm usually getting 500~ fields at 888. Can't say if I like it or not. One hand the fields are smaller but on the other hand it does make it a task to play a normal game as the lower amount of chips in play forces the tournament to result in push or fold.

I play quite a bit of low buyin MTT at stars. It makes sense early on if you have a monster hand to shove because you get callers. I had TJs on TJ9, shoved, two callers spiked a T and tripled up vs KK and 9T last sesh. Also, jammed A%s on 554 flop and got a call from QTs on the flush draw - sure he hit but I was ahead when the money went in. I *want* to flip early so I can build a roll quick or bust out rather than mess about for 5 hours then go out for a min cash.

I think the ongame tourney schedule is catered to European players. So while there are some fairly big microstakes tourneys (and by big, I mean like 500-1500 players, and not PokerStars-size 10,000 players) they aren't normally on at times when I play. The tourneys I like, which are the $11 shorthanded and $11 SH deepstack ones in the evenings Canada time, normally have 100-200 players and that's it. The structure is pretty good though - lots of room to play real poker, and it takes a long time before it becomes push/fold. In the deepstacks you start with 250bb (5000 chips at 10/20), so that's a really nice format for poker playing.

The player pool seems predominantly recreational players. There's a lot of limping, and a lot of completely incomprehensible play. Usually when I'm at a 6-player table, there's one really strong solid player, one passive tight player who plays pretty much ABC but isn't bad, and three faceplant-drunk orangutans.

I need to switch to ongame.

There is more tourney traffic than there is cash right?

I haven't really played online since Black Friday, except for a short stint on Carbon Poker. How are the games these days on the other sites, and which ones have even come close to having as good as software as FT/PS?
Also grinding poker at the casinos is sooooooooooooo brutal, it's like 1 month of live play = 2-3 hours of online play (I multitabled 12+ at a time).

You know i wouldnt mind the suckouts so much from shorties calling a preflop 4x raise with t6 cuz its soooooted and then calling a flop shove with no pair and no draw to go runner runner if it werent for the "lol bye loser" in chat before they bail.

Were do these spanish and russian micro limit players learn their manners? I would love to see them do the same in some of the private live cash games ive been to. Lets just say that Id be a safe bet for dealing 2 hands they would have no outs for.

Anyhoost finished the sessions for today. 4k hands and 3 buyins up.... kill me now....

Lol, I have the same issues with Italians. Aggro short stackers who are terribad (shove tpwk into flush board etc) but double up and disappear. Grrr!

good luck to everyone here... recently moved down to nl2 after spewing about 20 BI at nl5... but managed to moved down and now i ve got like 30 BIs for nl5 but I guess i ve leaks to fix in my game. so i ll wait a bit and probably move up when i reach 175$ and use a 5BI shot...

after 10,000 hands is when i started 24 tabling and auto piloting... do regret it though... somehow i lost 4 BI AA vs AK with AK hitting straight and tilted the s*** out of me..

and after 45000 its nl2 which i started grinding back...

well, good luck at the tables!!

Stay on Stars IMO - Its still amazing even with all the crappy changes.

I jammed J5 off into A9s - I won - Felt great. (Lol hyper turbos)

Sigh - my volume is terrible, I really need to find the right game for me this year.

I hate cash (mainly because I can't beat it) - But $/hr sucks (if you don't put much volume in compared to SnG's). I'd play MTT's but I just don't have the time.

/Sigh again.

Flop cbet is around 60%, although obviously *it depends* lol!

Against the fish there is just no point cbetting unless you hit or have a good draw. And they don't understand what a scare card is. I do a lot of isolating pre, then ch/folding flop. Feels crappy doing it, but just giving money away otherwise.

Found it funny last night when I took a look at some 50nl tables and saw the same bad players sitting there as at 20nl!

Sounds to me like a candidate for 90 man STT.

Im churning between 2-4k cash hands a day and i dont mind it too much. But i still prefer to sit in a decent tourney and really try to head deep in it. Ill be happy when the level of cash play gives me decent rakeback through vip. til then id just like to hit a couple of 4 figure cashes in MTT to pad the roll out. Wont be long ... i hope.

Yeah i'm in the same boat, you raise pot with AKs in position and maniac fish calls, then bets 1/4 pot into a 367 board and you have no option but to fold as you're spewing money otherwise.

Yeah my cbets 61% at 10nl, was a bit lower at 4nl but that's because of more multiway pots. Yeah I think the bad players seem to jump from 4nl to 50nl, I've even seen a couple when I was playing 4nl playing 100nl at the same time?

if you are serious about poker, you have to have the right mental attitude for the grind...the beats, the wins, all of it. if there is no pressure to make money I think you can have a good go at it. moaning about beats is ****ing old. :/ I wish I never did it.

You can almost open shove just AA KK in these donkaments and build a nice roll, a lot of the idiots will call with a lot worse.
May aswell try take the fools money early on before they start to thin out.

I need to make another 9 BI at 16nl before I move up, im all set to run like god so hopefully it will only take a week. But it will probably be the end of the month :/

and lol at the spanish and russians for being so bad. You would think they get bored of it.

Yeah I often do this

the big 5.50 is a great game. one of my fav micro donkaments. You get a lot of decent players when compared with the games later in the day I think.

I would prefer the games with the easy players. are they on in the daytime or night time?
