You are having the cash players issue in MTT here. Overvaluing your hand and committing too much to it.. In MTT especially micro MTT top pair or even premium pocket pair is rarely good enough to commit your stack to. You want to grind up chips steadily in the first hour with cbet pot taking on flop or turn. Commiting your stack on one hand unless you are solidly connected to the board with a set or better or preflop with less than KK ( unless the guy shoving is 74/60) only leads to early railbirding.

You arent going to get a lot of decent post flop poker in a micro MTT until the end of the second hour. So premium, positional steal, cbet weak players and build steadily. Wait for cash game style poker until you have a deeper stack at higher blind levels. Then you can really start to move chips around to soak up small stacks and to scare larger ones.

Busted both tourneys. Gonna try some 2nl on lock. Just have to try and learn to value the $ even at this level. Had a nice stack in the superstack until I ran my turned 7s full into flopped quad 3s.

Nice one Mike. You are quite right of course.

ASB - I used to play Magic the Gathering pretty much full time and travelled round the world doing it so Im used to the lifestyle. I love it! Once you are established you get a group of people together who are all doing it and it's fantastic times in far away places (and generally well monied) so you can really AVE IT! with your mates.

I only stopped magic cause i'd done everything that could be done so was seeking new challenges. and poker is very similar so its an easy transition.

Since this is still a February issue, I'm posting here instead of the March thread.

Boss is giving out free money today thanks to the leap year! They have a €2500gtd freeroll for players registered in the last 29 days, a €5000gtd freeroll for anyone with 250 raked hands this month and a 5.50 tournament with €5000 added to the prizepool. Gonna play the last two, as I'm obviously not qualified for the first one. The 5k freeroll will probably reach the max entrant amount of 5000 players, the 5k added I expect will have something between 1000-2000 players, making a total prizepool of 10-15k. Hoping for some rungood!

Out of the 5k added. A9 vs 55 on A95 flop. Guess there's no way not to stack off there. Was 25th out of 500 remaining players before that hand. Villain happened to be one of the few stacks that had me covered. :-/

Woo hoo - February finishes up a winning month for me!
Now, don't laugh at sample size. I get maybe an hour a night to play and this is my 2nd month playing so I am sticking to two tables for now.

This is honestly the last hand I played for Feb, I had checked sit out next BB, and I sat out after this.

PartyGaming - $0.02 NL - Holdem - 8 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 3

UTG: $0.56
Hero (UTG+1): $2.68
MP: $2.18
MP+1: $2.00
CO: $1.84
BTN: $0.92
SB: $2.03
BB: $0.34

SB posts SB $0.01, BB posts BB $0.02

Pre Flop: ($0.03) Hero has A A

fold, Hero raises to $0.06, MP calls $0.06, fold, CO calls $0.06, fold, fold, BB calls $0.04

Flop: ($0.25, 4 players) 6 K 7
BB checks, Hero bets $0.18, fold, CO calls $0.18, fold

Turn: ($0.61, 2 players) A
Hero bets $0.43, CO calls $0.43

River: ($1.47, 2 players) 7
Hero bets $1.40, CO calls $1.17 and is all-in

Spoiler:
Hero shows A A (Full House, Aces full of Sevens) (PreFlop 88%, Flop 79%, Turn 100%)
CO mucks 4 K (Two Pair, Kings and Sevens) (PreFlop 12%, Flop 21%, Turn 0%)
Hero wins $0.00
Hero wins $3.62

Villain was exactly the kind of fish I've read about that will call you down with a pair, yet I rarely meet them.
Stats were 90/10 or something. Luckily for me he caught a bit of the board this time.

Took a decent pot with AK vs. AQ with an A on board too to end a short but sweet session.

Here's my graph for Feb:

Would be nice to be $10 up over 2700 hands rather than only $3.33

Anyone else got Feb graphs to show?
