Ok I made another post before but i think i asked the wrong question and got all the wrong answers...

Ive been hopping between game types but i think its time to commit to one, but im an impatientt guy! Which type of game is the fasted to get to aa decent level at and be able to build a bank roll fast with? Cash? Sng? mtt? etc.?

Cash games seem to be the most popular and also have the most learning material which helps to learn fast but for me they seem to take years to master... or am I wrong? Then Sngs seem to have more fish in them, and as Im not good at multi tabling they might be a better option for me? Any advice?

Cheers!

Last thread you asked for the best money maker, now you ask for the best game to build a roll fast with. Not much difference imo.

I dont get why its so hard to get an answer on this question, for example... maybe some games take longer to learn than others? I want the faster option, not the fast option but the faster one. Im ready for 6 months of slugging but i wanna have the best results at the end of it.

Say im trying to learn a language, none of them are "easy" but maybe spanish is easier than german for example? Its a REALLY important decision which i cant easily change later so id just like some profesional advice before i make it.

Your the only one that can answer this question, Only you know what you enjoy the most. With that said because you enjoy that particular format the most you will be more focused on getting better at the game. Stop for a second and forget about quick $$$ in poker. Unless you get a $10k loan and play a $10k HU match and double in the first few hands than great you just made some quick n easy money, but more the most part your not going get a $10k loan and do that. So your looking at years before you see any decent $$$ and thats only if you keep learning the game and its not easy.

Poker a very delusional game, there no such thing as easy money, Alright I can play straight forward ABC poker and win but that will only get you so far and defiantly not far enough to satisfy your wallet.

Non, takes months to get yourself in to a decent spot. Sorry, but poker is not a get rich quick process.... Take your time to learn the game... Ive had to go back and fix many bad leaks recently that turned me from a BE player in to a winner (*Fingers crossed*) - Had I not rushed my early months... im sure I would be sitting here playing 100NL +... Im stuck at 25NL/50NL at the moment because I DIDNT TAKE MY TIME LEARNING THE GAME.

Anywho...most players will spend the first 2 or so months (of cash, in particualr) not having a clue what they are doing except for knowing the rules - Interestingly, these players think they are the bees knees! (We ALL, when we first played online, thought we were better than we actually were)

And the next 6 months learning to play better poker - yet loosing at a slow rate thinking A) Your not a bad player, just getting unlucky B) Tilting a boat load of cash away. C) Feering the monsters under the bed - IE: Never bluffing, Never making any form of thin value bet, and making your bets tiny at the micros with a strong hand

And then you will turn in to a winning player once you understand: 1) Thoght process 2) Ranges 3) Value betting 4) BRM 5) Tilt management 6) Not beeing scared to loose 7) Not trying to make money but make good decisions. And then stick some volume in.

OP, if you find the easy answer let me know. I'll create a forum sticky saying 'play SNGs for easiest money' or whatever ...

So you are all saying it takes the same lengh of time to learn both cash and sngs?

I might add that ive said several times im not trying to get rich quick, i know this is impossible, a person that stupid shouldnt even be allwed to gamble imo. Im tring to get reasonably good quick, and by quick i mean 2 or 3 months instead of 4 or 5 months.

No, we are saying it depends on the person learning. Find the game you like the most, because only if you really like playing you will have the motivation required to become good at it.

Sng`s are faster, as in someone will win money at the end. That does`t always happend in cash games. However, that works both ways, so you might lose faster as well.

Sng`s also plays with shorter stacks, and that will result in fewer mistakes as there will be less streets to make mistakes at. But, again that also works in reverse.

Sng`s can be faster to master (wow, a rhyme), but you might be able gain a bigger edge in cash games.

In conclution, poker ain`t easy money

I don't think anyone can reasonably say which game types are the fastest to learn because once you learn one game type the next one because inherently easier, if only slightly.

Find a game that you prefer and work on it. It might be cash, mtt or sng or one of the more specific versions of those like CAP or 50/50s.

There is no 'get rich quick game' I'm sorry to say. This forum wouldn't be exist if their was one.

I think it was CMAR that rephrased the question in a similar thread as:
"Which game can I become a professional in quickest - football or baseball?"

Yeah, we noticed.

Pick a game, any game. But pick it knowing that you're going to concentrate on it exclusively for the next twelve months (in other words, pick a game that you're willing to concentrate on, which comes back to what others have said about picking one that you actually enjoy playing).

Your aim is to get as good as possible at that one game in twelve months.

Forget about winning money in five months, or three months, or seven point two months or any of that crap. Just become the best you can in the next twelve months.

Unless you're some poker savant (possible, but by definition, unlikely) you will still have room for a ton of improvement, but you'll have a better idea of what you want to do next, poker-wise.

Good Luck.

EDIT: And of course, regarding $$$, recognise right from the start that you could actually lose money over those 12 months and still get to the end of the year a far better poker player than you are now.
