Was this a dumb call? Was this a dumb call?

Yesterday I was playing live MTT (I am quite new to Live, still getting used to different dynamics of tournament and so), blinds 150-300, with 25 ante with me sitting on BB. There was one limp, then raise to 1200. My hole cards were AJo and I called the raise and then there was one more call.

Flop came 7 J 3 rainbow and was raised all in by player on my right. She was pretty aggresive during the whole game and making these big raises even with nothing, so I felt like she is trying to get me out of the pot. I had something around 11 000 in chips, she had something around 12000 - 13 000. I called and she showed me KK. however, third guy who called with 98o hit his gutshot and got bounty for both of us.

Should I just fold the AJo preflop if there was raise before me or should I've just let it go when raised all in on flop?

Thank you for any insight

fold AJo OOP pre flop to a raise.

AJo in the BB is usually a fold for me in a cash game if there is a raise. Early in a tourney, I think it's still a fold, unless you are really sure villain is an aggrofish that has a lot worse in their open-raising range. I'm not wanting to get it all in with a potentially dominated hand until I'm down to 20 big blinds. Maybe you got unlucky in that you ran into the top of this villain's range.

Fold Pre-flop

Fold Flop,

AJ doesn't tend to play well out of position to a PF raise. If you had position, I'd call pre flop, and the flop shove from the SB would put you in a spot. You had 40BB at the start of the hand, so I'm likely to fold to the over shove, especially if someone has called in front of you.

You're in a tricky situation. with 40BB you have 2 options IMO. Either jam and get it all in or fold. Obv you are in a bad spot jamming bc she had KK. In most scenarios you'd be in a better spot based on the mentioned table image your opponent had. With over 40BB I may re-raise or fold based on opponents but rarely flat it oop

Fold or push preflop.

You can't really fold on the flop unless you put her on an overpair and if that were the case you wouldn't have called preflop

Don't reraise-push preflop for 40 BB; that's just terribly spewy. You'll only be called if you're in horrible shape, and if you're trying to win the pot right away, a much smaller 3-bet will get all but the top of villain's range to fold, and you can get away if you're up against QQ+ or AK. Are people seriously recommending a 40 BB shove with trash like AJo?

Blinds are way to small to even consider playing AJo with a raise. If it gets limped to you in the big blind, then I would raise otherwise, I fold.
