That is a $100 bet unless you verbalize a different amount.

Short thread .. If you are opening the betting on Flop, Turn or River then the full value of the chip is the bet if put in silently.

You may still want to train yourself to continue to verbalize since if you do this Pre-Flop it's just a call. But then again, it's one of the oldest angles in book to act (dumb) like you wanted to raise in an effort to see the next street cheaper.

FYI .. Another 'one chip' discussion is that if you declare 'all-in' and then toss out a single chip to 'verify' your all-in you may end up in a spot where your opponent might claim to not have understood the bet and perhaps try to not pay you the full amount.

FYI .. Lots of Players will call an all-in with one chip, this is also an opportunity for them not to pay you. Make sure the chips are in the middle or you verify verbally with Dealer and/or Player both before showing down your hand.

Welcome to live poker, for the most part things go swimmingly, but there's nothing wrong with protecting your action/interest in a pot by verifying or confirming what action has taken place. GL

Also, it's not a one chip rule. You can put out multiple chips and still be ruled a call. Just announce your action. No one is getting a read off your voice anyway.

TDA Rule
Quote:
45: Multiple Chip Betting A: If facing a bet, unless raise or all-in is declared first, a multiple-chip bet (including a bet of your last chips) is a call if every chip is needed to make the call; i.e. removal of just one of the smallest chips leaves less than the call amount. Ex-1: Player A opens for 400: B raises to 1100 total (a 700 raise), C puts out one 500 and one 1000 chipsilently. This is a call because removing the 500 chip leaves less than the 1100 call amount. Ex-2: NLHE 25-50. Post-flop A opens for 1050 and B puts out his last chips (two 1000’s). B calls unless raise or all-in wasfirst declared.

I agree wholeheartedly with this. Just verbalize any time your actions might not be entirely clear. I can’t see how you are giving away anything by doing so, especially if you are consistently verbalizing. The added benefit is that you don’t need to know or worry about any of these rules about what constitutes a call vs a raise; your verbal declaration is binding and supersedes any rule.
