Do you use the numpad to size your bets?

Hello,

Just a simple question I've been wondering about.

When you're playing do you find yourself having to type in exact amounts (with the numpad) when you are sizing your bets? Or do you always use the 1/2pot 2/3 pot,.. etc shortcuts.

I have a laptop (no numpad) so all I do is click the 1/2,2/3pot shortcuts, am I missing out?

Hi and welcome to 2+2

Bit of both for me. I usually click the shortcut buttons and then adjust manually if necessary depending on what I want to achieve.

So for example, if I have whiffed with my AK and the flop is really dry, I will click the half pot button and then look at the amount and maybe add a bit more manually to make it look a bit more to villain.

I play mainly SNGs at the moment where stacks aren't very deep, so bet-sizing is pretty important IMO and a small adjustment of even just 10-20 chips every now and again can be significant.

I usually use default buttons at ring games and numpad in mtts as I just cant get the right open sizes from the defualt.

I miss playing on Stars where all you have to do is mouse-wheel scroll to the right bet size, incremented in big blinds.

On stars i use the stars hotkeys bet thingy buttons lol for opening size that ive set. For post flop play i use numpad most of the time.

I play with my xbox360 controller. I have buttons for 50% pot, 60% pot 70% pot, 80% pot, 100% pot, all in and 25bb. I also can scroll up and down in 1/2 bb increments.

Have thought about trying the xbox controller is it worth taking a look at? or is there a large learning curve.

I use tableninja and the mouse wheel set to .5 bb increments. Tableninja also let's you have predefined bets sizes per street. I think mine are set to 80% on the flop, 70% on turn and 60% on the river although I always end up tweaking the exact size.

Definitely have to use the keypad in late game when stacks are shallow and you have to bet less than half pot.

I use it for 4 tabling Zoom, and Rush before that. As well as hot bet fold call and bet size hotkeys, I use use the left stick to select which of the 4 table to move to. I think its the fastest way to play, but if you are playing 24 talbles tilled then I'm not sure how I could set it up.

how do you get the xbox controller to work? I am asuming wireless wont work...
I used to just use a logitech conttroller but for some reason I cant get it to work any more.

Me too, my buttons are set at 60 and 80%, I play sng's and that is all I need.

I use a wireless controller. You will need an adaptor for it.

I then link it to a mix of pokerstars hotkeys and my own AHK scripts. It could also be used with tableninja if you want.

I do use numpad to size my bets like 1,894 or 2,347... so for my opinion such bets looks non-standard and more pokerish )
