Do freerolls wreck poker play? Do freerolls wreck poker play?

I mean, On PS there's 10k-12k people which there its harder than hell to place consistently. On Rosso Poker I just placed on a freeroll without thinking and multiplied those winnings by a factor of 6. (it ain't even worth mentioning). When I play the real money sit n gos I suck...and it shouldn't even be a matter of switching styles. But if it's the case I'm in a world of hurt.

So the question stands: Do freerolls hurt?

Freerolls are madness in the beginning. It's not even poker.

When the late stages arrive, it improves, but the general consensus seems to be that they're a complete waste of time in terms of making money.

Just as I thought. I'd recommend playing at Russo since their freerolls are easier and capped a hell of alot lower [in reference to amount of players], but aside from the wacky Eastern European players, the site's dead...no one has the balls to play at higher levels.

bah.

No, however MTT's play very different from STT's. You can't play them both the same and expect to succeed.

BUMP

My question is similar to the OP

Are freerolls a waste of time? Do they actually hurt my game? After all, the play isn't realistic to where I normally play (nitty live play).

Meh. Depends how much your time i worth and the value of any particular freeroll (all freerolls are not created equal). Certainly freerolls>>>>>>play money.

Nitty live play? You're doing it wrong

Again, meh. Freerolls aren't that different from nano-stakes tournaments (at least after the initial flurry of donkish all ins). It really just depends on if it's worth your time or not and why you're playing freerolls.

I was talking about FT freerolls.

And I certainly don't play nitty live, my opponents do! That's why it's hard for me to practice 'my game' when playing freerolls. Everyone is loose . . . CRAZY loose! I can't really get in my comfort zone.

I guess I should play micro ring games.

I play a lot of freerolls at Pokerstars because I'm poor and a little donkish. I think they've helped me control my tilt and improved my patience. I used to play in a lot of freerolls at Ultimate Bet before I gave them the boot. I won a lot of UB Gear (Tshirts, baseball caps, etc) which I'm now ashamed to wear.
