^ Confirmed 10nl soul-crusher.
Made an absolute sick hero call against me on the river. So tilted.

    can't teach that
    12-30-2013 , 03:48 AM
Why are you opening 2.5x from MP btw Oly ?
    12-30-2013 , 04:40 AM
Just been testing out a new 2.5x strategy from all positions.

    why?
    12-30-2013 , 04:46 AM
Keeps the SPR a tiny bit higher.
But really, I'm just lazy and can't be bothered clicking the best slider twice.
    12-30-2013 , 05:53 AM
Your laziness costs you/will cost you. Also you can customize buttons for pre on stars to 2.5x, 3x... and postflop in % of pot.
    12-30-2013 , 05:56 AM
    lol
    12-30-2013 , 06:14 AM
    I've got customized buttons already.
I don't think it'll cost me anything though. For the sake of raising to 0.5 extra of a big blind I'd be able to make that back simply by betting larger postflop.
    12-30-2013 , 06:18 AM
I really don't see how raising 2.5x all positions will cost you too much.

    Care to elaborate asriva?

    2.5x is fine obv
    12-30-2013 , 08:12 AM
Why not 2x in that case ?
    12-30-2013 , 08:16 AM
    2x is fine obv
    12-30-2013 , 08:39 AM
Is 2x fine too because its the smallest we can open or if there was option we could 1.9x as well and it would be fine ? If yes then at what point does it become not fine and why ? 1.5x ? 1.2x ? Limp ?
    12-30-2013 , 08:45 AM
Obviously 2x is the smallest we can do by default. Limping to keep the SPR higher would be bad since we give the ability for the blinds to see a random flop with garbage. I tend to do 2.5x from EP, MP, CO, 2x on the BTN, and 3x from the SB (4x+1 per limper in the SB usually, but I only isolate from the SB with a strong range).

Although there is a highstakes player who does very well, who will play like 35/20 and limp a lot of his hands. Unsure on his reasons though.
    12-30-2013 , 09:02 AM
Surely if your W$WSF is over 50% then raising anything lower than 3x would result in you losing money would it not?

calm down there cowboy, why you getting so worked up

the simple answer is it doesn't matter. there are arguments for a wide range of opening sizes, finding what fits you best stylistically is whats important. don't just open X because someone on 2p2 said it's standard. i go 2.25/2.25/2/2/3. why? cos i want to

If you win more than half the time you see the flop, the more money you have in the pot come the flop your higher your bb/100 would be over time.

I'm dumb with poker maths though so idk if my basic thinking is flawed, i assume it is.

Sorry if that came across as a bit hostile, but that wasnt my intention. I genuinely wanted to know.

EccentricBG or something I think, plays 35/15 or thereabouts.
