Zoom is full of fish and regs are spewing today. Problem is I'm spewing too...

2 hands:

1) Don't think I have much SDV vs the DB and I have one of the nut bluffing hands in my range OTT. River is close, not sure how much I can expect him to fold. Sticky 2P hands?

nice one birdayy, you start from freerolls?
12-28-2013 , 01:41 PM
H1 - I think in theory it's ok but in reality so few villains are folding even 2P here that I'm not sure you're getting enough folds.

H2 - Tbh I don't like your or villain's turn play. Don't think he should be cbetting turn as you're folding so little of what you called flop with, and def shouldn't be calling the raise. Having said that, your turn ch/raising range for value is so narrow there, but I don't think an OESD on a twotone board is something that should be in there as a bluff. Maybe hands like Jxdd, Qxdd, Axss, Axdd?
I don't really overbet so can't comment on that, but as played I think given your river betsizing you're priced in to call especially as villain will raise non-nut hands

So you're having 0 bluffs in this spot? Or are you raising turn, x/f river? As soon as you check the river after raising the turn villains are just going to GII with any hand they have.

Without reads I wouldn't be bluffing river blank after tight villain calls the turn bluff. If we had reads etc then maybe
12-28-2013 , 01:53 PM
The main problem in that hand is that we block the vast majority of villains air. I really don't like the turn raise. By the river we block AhX and two pairs, hardly making our hand a good bluff.

We also block some sets, straights and flushes.

True, but generally speaking it is equally important if not more important to not block the folding range than it is to block the calling range.

So when we get to the river it is nice to know that villain can't have the nut flush, but he will still call with non-nut flushes. On the other hand he can't have been calling turn with AhX. In this case it is hard to see what hands he get to river with he can fold as we block so many of those combos.

The thing is, if you don't think you SD value on turn (I'll reckon you have some, not to mention you have 9 nut outs and 3 straight outs) you figure his range to be mostly TP and better, but he won't have many TP combos he can fold on turn, so you are turning your hand into bluff vs a very strong range, which he may or may not fold by the river (it's not a given he folds 2 pair). So it seems to me you are trying to bluff a range that is basically nutted and very strong and additionally you are blocking the bottom part of and you are risking getting blown off you nut outs if he decides to 3-bet turn.

So I basically think turn is bad and you just have to give up on river. This hand is far from the best hand you can have to bluff river with, it is much closer to the worst hand you can have. So I don't think river is particularly close.

Ignore what I said about being a 9, I thought the board was 994, not 449. In this case I dunno what villain has. Peeled AK, probably.

Gosh what a day. Really ironic when this happens after you think of moving up. I guess it was just bad variance. I was working actively on red line, but blue line didn't back up. Do you see on the blue line where i stacked the fish?
Or well i might just be a whale in 10nl zoom

Not leveling, but I think I need to watch all seasons of HSP all over again. I never watched S7 until now and I'm 4 episodes in. The majority of hands and table talk is extremely interesting (table talk is mostly interesting for live players I guess)

Does anyone remember if S1 - S6 is as good as S7?
12-28-2013 , 07:50 PM
Phew, crazy session.
Was planning on adding a 10NL table or two, but 5NL seemed a bit dead so it was mostly 10NL.
Ended up +0.5BI and if it wasn't for flopped straight < turned fh and flopped set < rivered straight I'd be well up.

QQ good to me today.
Also overbetting ftw!

Hero wonders WTF sort of flush draws Villain could possibly continue with on the turn, and contemplates calling?

Seriously, dude was playing 26/20 so wasn't fishy. Is there really anything in his range that continues on turn and has a flush by the river? This hand just... bleh, made no sense on the river.
    12-28-2013 , 11:22 PM
    Maybe A4cc?
    12-28-2013 , 11:38 PM
A4cc? Maybe, but what else? Really makes no sense to B/C turn with just a flush draw, and possibly one over card that mightn't even be good.

    Why is this unrealistic?

Even regs love their flush draws and implied odds.
    12-29-2013 , 03:47 AM
    solid post as always, ae.

oly, if villain was decent he would be raising for value with sets and above imo, because if you had a flush your bet sizing wouldn't be that small. but yeah, being that deep, A4cc might be the only hand that comes to mind, but doesn't really click though cause why would he flat the raise ott.
