I don't know if this is the right part to be posting this but anyways. I recent put on 110 dollars onto pokerstars and started playing 1.50 9 man turbos, and got up to 135, but then dropped running slightly below
Ev. I dropped back to even and then I was tilty and played some 1.50 hyper husngs. I won 7 in a row and my EV was going up (which means I played them well?) and then I lost a bunch and got more tilted because my EV was still going up but I was losing money. I then played some 3.50 hypers husngs, and dropped more money. I know thats bad bankroll management and i usually stick to bankroll management. I'm down to 70 and my HM says I'm running 48 dollars below EV. Should I be discouraged by this or just keep play 9 man turbos? Are there any suggestions of what I should do with my 70 dollar bankroll?
Any suggestions would be great! Thanks!

Welcome to the Forums.

Ignore results.

Concentrate on making good decisions.

I'd say that's good advice for any form of poker, but HUSNGS in particular have so much variance that beating yourself up over whether you're running hot or cold is simply going to screw with your head.

And make it a golden rule to never ever move up to chase losses.

Good Luck.

Thanks for the advice. I don't know what you specialize in but do you have and suggestionss of what i should play? I seem to play 9 man turbos decently but I have troubles in the middle stages near the bubble (calling shove ranges and such). If you are good at these (or know somebody that can help me) and you could look at some of my hands that would be awesome.

Just know that at some point, no matter how good you play, you'll run into some stupendously bad variance that crushes your soul. Try to make some money before that happens.

So my luck should start getting better? It's just another big downswing?

not even close, bout 200. I know people say you don't get a true estimate until 10k but i was just curious becuase being 48 dollars below EV seems big for my b roll, thanks for any advice/criticism

I can't ignore results either. It's hard. I don't know how many games I have played, more than 1k but less than 3k. At least you are using HEM and paying attention to EV, it's a good start. BF really ruined my plans to be a SNG grinder

I've dabbled in pretty much all games (never getting good at any of them, but having a lot of fun along the way, and I still enjoy studying the game).

Usual advice would be to pick the game you enjoy and concentrate on that for the time being. If you want to make any serious money that's probably the way to go.

My point is, whatever game you're playing, time spent worrying about results, running below EV and all that stuff, is much better spent studying the game, working out what mistakes you're making and finding out how to correct them.

If HUSNGs are your game, there are guys in the HUSNG forum who've forgotten more about poker than I'll ever know and who will be only too happy to help you out if you wanted to post some hands. That's way more constructive than fretting about results. (Not trying to bash you here - I'm sure we all fret about results to some extent.)

Good Luck.

EDIT: You might want to google 'husng simulator' and play around with one of those, just to get a feel for the sort of swings you can expect in that format.

As long as you don't tilt when your running below EV then it's fine. IMO not tilting is one of the biggest factors in building your bankroll. Running under EV is not the worst thing that tilts me its when your actually running at EV but get crushed every hand by running into the top of peoples ranges. That tilts your soul but it does come to an end!

Make +EV decisions as many times as you can. Results will come.. poker is weird like that, you just gotta work through it and try to minimize tilt when negative runs happen.

Also worth adding, maybe - even when you're running hotter than the Sun God, you're still making mistakes, so again, ignore results and concentrate on improvement.

Just remember this, you are winning at about 2ptBB 100 so if you make a 4 big blind mistake at any point it will take you 100 hands to make it up. So if you get stacked once for 100BB that is going to take you 2500 hands to make up (or a whole day of grinding) be wise.
