STT's so it's not that quite bad, even though I've had to completely adjust my game for SNG's, mainly my aggression. I actually had an amazing session yesterday and won $1.60, which btw, is running hotter then the sun considering I only play 6man .11 turbos!

I've been building a roll from absolutely nothing; quite literally :| Here lately I just can't seem to make any progression, I win some, I lose some, I end up even at the end of the night. It's really starting to test my patience as I'm only a few dollars from staking up but can't make that final push. Any advice, suggestions, and or stories would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks..
I play less poker and read more poker books. I presume I am breaking even because I dont know as much as my opponents. Of course, although this may be true, more likely I am just running bad. The extra knowledge I have when I stop running bad means I smash it to pieces.

If you cant quite make it at the level you are at, drop down a level, smash it, then move back up.

There's no such thing as "negative variance." Variance is always positive-definite.

Fold to aggression. Poker's an easy game, either you can value bet (which includes the % that your opponent folds) or you can't.

What? You can't assign a positive or negative label to 'variance.'

It's just the concrete, small-sample manifestation of the long-term trends associated with games that have an element of chance involved. Sometimes you hit all your draws for 5000 hands and win 75 bb/100 hands, and sometimes you miss them all and lose 60 bb/100. One is 'positive' and the other is 'negative' but your expected winnings were the same.

Variance is always non-negative (technically it can be zero, but in poker it cannot be zero after a few hands). Swings can be negative or positive.
