Having a brain fart. Two players showdown with the same hand; do you split the pot evenly or does it go to the person with the high card by suit?

Yes, they would split the pot. Suit rankings are not a relevant part of a poker hand.

I would not agree with that .. In stud, suits are used to break the ties in the betting rounds as well as at Showdown .. even Royal v Royal.

Spade, Heart, Diamond then Clubs is the typical ranking.

These suits are also used to determine who is forced to 'open' (ante) the first round of betting with the worst card showing (2 of clubs), after which the highest/best hand showing starts each round after. GL

(Re) check that .. No suits at Showdown, only in the betting rounds .. if it's on the Internet it must be true .. (not) GL

I can't say that I've seen suits decide who bets first, usually seen ties broken by relative position to the dealer. And certainly not at showdown

3rd street in stud. 2 players have the same low card, order of who acts first goes club, diamond, heart, spade. On all other streets, best hand showing acts first.

I have actually seen people do it the way sixfour described, but they eventually changed to the standard way of using suits.

It may well be that it's the sort of thing that had varying house rules back in the day. It's been a long time since I played stud. If I told you that when I started playing big bet hold'em, the standard rules here were pot limit with equal blinds on the dealer and first to act, you'd say I was nuts, but that's how it was here. But in terms of stud now it's kind of moot as there can only be two or three places that actually spread it, both live and online combined?

The center of the stud universe(at least in eastern US) is Foxwoods. 20/40 Stud always goes, 75/150 almost always goes and even 150/300

Yeah, I assumed somewhere in AC or the east coast in general still had games that run, maybe games occasionally go at the Orleans, after that I'm struggling. Shame, it's a much more interesting game than HE but what isn't

Mid to high limit mixed games run semi-regularly. Mostly OE or HORSE. Mohegan Sun pre-pandemic had a regular (once or twice per week) 7.50/15.00 HORSE.

Foxwoods gets a 150/300 mix going from time to time that includes Badugi and 2-7 TD.
