I've been playing 1/2 nl live and it seems to me that playing abc poker towards becoming a good TAG is the only way to grind. So maybe it could just be me but i save more money folding hands like AQ off UTG through UTG+2 and when in the blinds a flatcall would be best but when your in late position i would raise to see where I'm at preflop......where I'm really having issues is on the low jack and hi jack position it's between a call and a raise here depends on opp I'm asking for advice am i just a rock or am i rambling on some noob shhh

I can promise you that you don't have even close to the sample size to know your approximate win rate with AQo in general and you will probably never be able to truly know how you do will it in any specific position.

Considering your opponents when determining your action is good. But your default action with AQo should be to raise because it's one of the best hands in the game and is better than the nonsense most players play at 1/2 (but I have open folded AQo a few times in EP myself playing 1/2).

Btw, why do you 'want to see where you are at'? What good does that do you? Just something to think about.

Based on your question I honestly don’t think you give up a ton of EV by folding AQo from UTG. That hand should be a solid winner for experienced players in weak lineups where others behind them have trouble folding any Ax but for a beginner who has little postflop experience, that hand might present some challenges especially multi-way.

That said, you spent a lot of time in UTG in a 9 handed game. Folding everything from there except for JJ+/AK means you are sitting around doing nothing for very long stretches. That’s not only pretty boring but not playing hands also makes it harder to get better.

OTOH, if you have trouble opening a hand like AQo from late position which means you’ll have position in a HU pot pretty often, that’s something where you probably lose a ton of value.

Niediam i agree with you on the sample size and because i play live it's almost improbable. But when i said that i want to see where I'm at i said that because I've been in several situations where i raise in mid position with AQo where there is a couple limpers i make it $10 and then some reg re raises to $35 or something around there, most of the times if they've been playing tight i fold it pre, but i just hate playing out of position it always seems like even when i have the best of it and im oop when i call down it still feels like i missed some equity.Madlex thanks for the advice it seems like you know your stuff and i understand it's boring but i tried balancing out my play UTG but it's not worth it at 1/2 this is where i agree with this guy Evan Jarvis from gripsed poker that its better to play a exploitative strat than a GTO balanced approach and in position I'm Golden but what about if there is a solid player in EP and he raises there i would just flatcall same thing if that same players raises and there are 2 callers i would always call never raise

There’s no one answer on how to play AQo preflop but raise, as in open raise or raise over limpers or straddles is going to be correct 95% of the time. It’s definitely strong enough to play from EP but it’s not going to hurt your win rate badly to fold it either.

What to do when considering or facing a 3bet becomes way more complicated but a default strategy to open raise/fold to any 3bet that leaves you OOP to a someone you think can play poker is the best choice to start with.

folding AQ up front is fine

more concerning is the bolded statement and the thought process behind it

there are many reasons to raise, call, or fold ; this should never be one of them
