When facing a bet you can roughly estimate your odds by simply memorizing that 1/2 pot is 25%, 3/4 is 30% and so on.

Is there any similar way/shortcut to roughly calculate your odds when you get check raised?

These shortcuts indicate the required equity needed in order to call a bet or not.

So for example if facing a 1/2 pot bet on River we need to have at least 25% equity in order to call.

You can calculate this manually like that:

Amount to call / (Amount to call + Total pot size)

Or if you can't do this in your head efficiently and quickly (like me)

You can simply memorize this:

However if you get check raised these shortcuts no longer works and you have to do the whole calculation.

pot odds calculation is exactly the same when facing a bet or raise
you just use the amount you have left to call instead

say pot is 100
villain bets 50
it's 50 for us to call so:
pot = 200 = 100 + 50 + 50 (since we get our 50 back)
our odds = 50 / 200 = 25%
which adds up with your half pot bet

another example, pot is 80
you bet 10
villain raises to 60
that makes it 50 left for you to call
pot = 200 = 80 + 10 + 60 + 50 (we still get our bet back)
odds = 50 / 200 = 25%

exactly the same

well, if the pot's $50, you bet $30 and get checkraised to $100, is it really that hard to work out you need to call $70 into a pot of $180?

Yep op just work out what your pot odds are and you’ll notice nothing has changed.

So in the above example he’s giving you 2.57:1 pot odds which is close enough to a 2/3 pot bet.
