First session of the new year was a successful one -- back at 10NL after a month of tilt rehab (2/5NL confidence rebuilding)

Man I missed dragging $10+ pots (as lame as that sounds, it's true!)

$335 --> $348

started at 556 two days ago moved up to 25nl... was doing good then ran horrible.. was 4.5 buyins under EV over 3k hands.. ended up falling to 435 and hated life..

back to 10nl for a while =/

BR-374

Came back and tried to put in more hands to hopefully get some momentum going and just got worked again. 10nl was pretty consistent before and all the sudden the past 2 days I'm having all kinds of swings. I didn't really tilt too bad. It's frustrating but part of the game. Going to hopefully tighten up the game again and get a win or two. It's only 4k hands or so but I hope this isn't a preview of a bigger downswing/breakeven stretch to come.

10NL lifetime

I had my first session of 2010 yesterday. I knew from the beginning I wasn't really fully focused, but still managed to be up 2.5BI's after only 25 minutes and quit then.

Bankroll - $141. The highest it's been. And, only $9 untill I'm out of 2NL!
01-02-2010 , 07:20 AM
hi pirate. fwiw you could already be taking shots at 5nl with that bankroll. i moved up completely with 25 buy-ins at $125 (buying in at 5 bucks - would then increase to 6, then 7 and so on when i had 25 buy-ins). they play isn't much different.

the only thing i would say when you move up is to try and find the tables where everyone has a similar buy in. so if you're buying in for 100bb's avoid the tables where everyone is buying in for 200bb's.
01-02-2010 , 07:28 AM
The only reason I'm not taking a shot at 5nl at the moment, even though I'm rolled for it, is down to my bankroll management.

When I started out, I told myself I'd get to $150 before I make the move up, and I feel that if I deviate from that now, I'm going against the rules I've set.

Thanks for the heads up with the stacks. I did consider how I was going to go about it... I think when I hit $200 I'll buy in for $10, do you think that's a decent POA?
01-02-2010 , 07:37 AM
fine. i did the same thing by setting that goal and refused to budge from it too so was pleased to accomplish it when it happened.

i would gradually step up the buy-ins through 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 then buy in at 10nl when you hit w/e target you set, personally. so when you're buying in for 7 or 8 you have a wider number of tables to sit down at, and it's not really much of a disadvantage against the players buying in for 10. and you get to build your roll quicker imo.

i don't know if how i did it is what most people did/do, so would like to hear how someothers tackle the 200bb buy-in tables when building a roll.

Cleaned out my stars account, had 18k FPPs left.

Spammed 280s FPP Hyper Turbos,

Spammed $23 HUSnGs

Played 25 and 50NL FR with $400 roll.

Deposited 300 for reload bonus, Moved to 50 and 100NL FR w/ $900 roll.

Up 800 so far.

Plan of Attack: Continue 100FR for a month, play 57.5s during non peak hours. Get 100k hands in, re-evaluate, move up with HUSnGs, HUCash, or 200FR, most likely 100 and 200FR mixed.
01-02-2010 , 07:48 AM
Current Stake: 2NL
BR: $1200

Plan of Attack

Making the switch from mid stakes LHE to NLHE hence the nano stakes to re-tool. Single tabling so I can concentrate on the game and opponents more to get the hang of the differences between the limit and no-limit varieties of HE. Planning on making 5BI per level until I hit NL200 where I plan to increase the number of tables I'm playing. Goal for the year is to be playing NL200 online and 5/10 at the local casino with some donkaments thrown in for good measure come July. Finding NL2 very frustrating at times however no point moving up until I at least get the hang of beating the lowest stake. Want to be playing full time again once my current work contract runs out so doing some serious study and work off the tables atm.

gogogogogogo!
01-02-2010 , 08:48 AM
Current Stake: 2NL
BR: 100$

Plan of Attack:
Been going up steadily in 2NL with 20$ starting money and I've had BB\100 at around 11-12. Didn't play at all in December and lets see if things keep going the way they are. I'll try not to take shots at 10NL until I have 20 bins and try not to tilt half of my stack in one day when I get there (doing it once is enough). Plus I need to remember to play more hands, being a nit seems to be a constant danger when I'm loosing money.

i did the same thing last year, just buying in for an amount that i have 20 Buyins and drop down when neccessary. Right now i am starting back up and am not doing it right now, i'm just buying in for $5 (160 roll atm). I will sometimes make that ten if there's some huge drooling fish on my right with $10 or more. The increasing buyin system really can increase your winnings, so you should do it imo. I'm just getting back into it so i'm not too confident in my game yet so avoid buying in deepstack. If you are confident in your game i'd recommend it def.
01-02-2010 , 09:23 AM
Hmmm... In that case I'm tempted to buy-in for $7 when I move up, which would be over 20BI's.

If the play isn't much different from 2nl, I feel pretty confident buying in for 20BI's... Of course I can always move back down if I go on a downswing...

if i were you i'd grind to 150, because it's rewarding to hit a goal imo.
then move to 5NL, and buyin for 5 dollars. Then when you are comfortable @ 5NL increase your buyin amount to something you have 20 buyins for. Don't be stubborn though and move down to 5 if you think your edge diminishes because you are not proficient in playing 150 BB deep.
01-02-2010 , 09:40 AM
$265 -> $328, one poor session - 3k hands 1.66ptbb/100, a lot of mistakes :/

15612 hands at nl10 (9.79ptbb) so ~35hands left

01-02-2010 , 11:04 AM
10NL 6max going well so far.

FTP ~$450

When I hit $500 Im taking a single BI shot @ 25NL just to test the waters and that may help my 10NL game when I move back down after my shot.

I'm going to do exactly that .

Thanks for the assistance, I'll update when I make the move up!

(Que a downswing now I'm so close )

Not going well. Breakeven session there. Bubbled out of like 15sngs, rand into hands like kings whn holding 10s n jacks etc and lost a lot of aq, ak, to ax type of hands.

Br:259

Plan: Just continue through it. Get to 750vpps, buy the 10 dollar stellar reward and hopefully run better haha.

wtf @ 1 buyin shot. Do a 10 buyin and move down if you lose that 10bi. You will still have 25bi for 10nl should you run bad or get outmatched at 25nl.
01-02-2010 , 04:19 PM
$131 -> $127 -> $129

Add me to the list of people who haven't started out 2010 very well. I feel like I'm playing well but I just keep getting coolered/sucked out on. I think my favorite was when I went AI pre with KK and got called by JK, AK, and J9s. J9s of course makes the flush. I didn't lose my whole stack because I beat the JK hand, and he had the other 2 covered, but still.

I tend to get a little timid when that happens and start seeing trouble where there is none. I have to work on that a little bit. Still planning to move to 5NL when I hit $150/10k hands.

I love small networks with soft tables

The table averages of the tables I'm sitting at all have green vpip (loose) and pink pfr (passive)..I'm looking at:

49/8
37/10
and my tight table is 34/12

I feel life will be good in 2010
