Just given ya some more attention since you don't seem to get enough lol.

Back to LOVING Pokerstars, just took a switch to some PLO flopping Quad Aces and having 5 people all in with various straights and fullhouses and missed draws. 500+ bb in one hand is ALWAYS nice ;-)

Does anyone here grind the limit omaha hi/lo (LO8) games to build up a roll?

I cleared a few bonuses back in the days when I could play at paradise poker and I remember that you only needed about 200 Blinds to be safe from going broke. On the stars .02/.04 game that would be $8.

Seems like the perfect game to grind with a short roll. When your roll gets larger ($10-$15) you can take shots at either larger LO8 games or sngs or NL5 or whatever.

I don't recall seeing anyone mention that game but its def a possibility for those on a short roll.

Plan of Attack:
  • Stick to playing just 1 form of poker (cash) as opposed to swapping between STT's, MTT & Cash.
  • Start out in NL10 and try and get 500-1000 hands a day 4 tabling and review every session! (Big problem for me i just dont do it). Get myself a 20k hand sample at NL10 to see if i can actually maintain a winrate and find where my leaks are.
  • Get a subscription to DeucesCracked
Done!!
  • Get healthy! Im sure this affects my play somewhat and when i get home from work probably feel more up for playing.
  • Hopefully by the end of the year be a solid 25NL player on the brink of 50NL
  • Looking to move up after 50-100k hand sample providing i have 25-30 buyins for the next limit.
  • Read all my books i have lying around unread!
  • Participate more on 2+2!
Todays session finished with $503.44 nice little boost but i think this includes yesterdays session as well.

Also bumped it up to 6 tables for the last bit of my session. Overall this year i feel i am playing better and actually thinking about what i am doing with my hands. If anyone here wants to discuss NL5/10 and maybe NL25 feel free to pm me or add me on Skype (DanGamble89)

There are so many 2 pair and straight turning up here i think this should be a very yough call. Do you have any reads on BB?

Dan-

Congrats on hitting your goals and the $500. I just jumped up to 10NL again since my first few shots didn't go too well (dropped down to rebuild). I may drop you a pm to discuss a few hands that I have played.

Thanks in advance.

Sure:

Running about 2 BI's above EV (AA> KK, AA > KK, AA > KK + JJ, QQ > AQo).

Check,

Yes I did originally win a few donkaments and managed to get $600 and chucked it on FTP for the deposit bonus. Jumped in at NL10 and shots at NL25 and ran horrid (not talking about AA vs KK suckouts I mean I sucked bad. I think I lost like $200 at NL10!!) I did start out at NL4 and I thought I ground my way up but I really didn't I won the 2 donkaments and should have withdrew it to save me getting this false sense of being good

So I milked it sown to about $450 after playing STT's, MTT's and HU. So withdrew it and put it on Stars to grind the $2.20/180's.Shannon Elizabeth But grew bored of them. So have decided to go back to grass roots and really learn cash games and I feel I am learning over these past few days

So I'm hoping to do this NL10 stuff for a minimum of 20-25k hands until i hit $600 (if I hit 600 before I'll keep going for the 25k mark) So then hopefully I can move up to NL25 this time with a solid winrate and a better understanding of the game.

So thank you for your words and please feel free to PM I would be more than happy to discuss anything regarding our progress with you.

Good luck with your rebuild at NL10 as well

Wow, thats one hot streak of hands and getting called by worse. Was wondering if you were doing something different or had any major tips for 5NL. Hard to tell because of really small sample but it will be interesting to see how your redline fares since your blog commented on not playing as simply as a lot of people say to.

rocaerix-

That graph by verneer is nice but over 1300 hands anything and I mean anything is possible. Try to keep that in mind when your looking at samples under 10k. BTW, 10k samples are even lol.

The best tip to beat NL5 is to bet for value and keep the bluffing to a minimum if even at all.

Yeah I know that and thats how I'm playing. Currently beating it for ~10BB/100 which I'm more than fine with and should try moving up soon. I'm just looking for areas to improve in. For example I'm fairly certain I should be 3Bing more preflop (was even spotting situations yesterday where I should and not following through to avoid variance). I generally play extremely fit or fold post flop if I miss unless I have a couple of decent draws and know they c/bet too often.

Just played a short 400 hand session tonight. Will try to get in 750-1k hands a day this next week or two before school.

BR: 627 --> 668

Overall 25nl graph... today I had some suckouts against me but luckily they were against short stacks and stuff (TT<99 and KK<K7). Hope I continue to run hot when I start playing more than 300 hands a day but obviously I am going to drop eventually.

meh i gotta stop reading this thread (atleast till i can grind again). Sooo gets me pumped up to put in some serious hours of grinding but no... school&exams come first. Will grind February at 200% to take back the lost time.
PS:Happy to see this thread so active. Keep the grind going

Perfect way to attack the lower limits. Trying to get fancy and play to achieve certain stats is probably going to take away from your bb/100 rather than add to it.

Best thing to do is start posting hands to the micro-stakes forum. How often do you do that?
01-04-2010 , 11:03 PM
Current stake: 4nl
Current winrate: 21.75bb/100 over 11000 hands

Current goal: Make $30 more to move up to 10nl.

Am just sticking to good olde brm and moving up to 10nl, 20nl and 50nl when I reach 20BIs for each. Hopefully can do it this year 3-4tabling. Started at 4nl as I wanted to get a lot of experience in and I believe I have my "system" now which I can expand on.
