Install something like Core Temp so you can have a little thermometer on your system tray to warn you when it's about to go to ****.

o a notebook

i have a great desktop rig that stands idle while I play on my gfs 5-year-old laptop (for garden accessibility) and it dies occasionally or refuses to charge and drains the battery even with ac on and bugs me with stupid messages about it constantly or MS SE autoupdates and kills everything for 3 minutes so you have my sympathy I took it to bits a few times and I wouldn't recommend doing that if you're unsure about it.

I'm going to end up buying 'her' a new one

10NL @ Party. +290bb / 309 hands.

Makes up for this yesterday on FT - I had been just under on 4 tables after about 45 min, after another 45 min was sitting at +340bb. In the SB I had just unchecked the box to autopost blinds to close the table at the end of the next orbit when I got QQ ...

Honestly I'm just so lolbad sometimes.... :

New Thread, and I didn't win the title prize? Blane's was OK, but not nearly as cool as my 'Pop Culture' reference was

I have $334 on PS, and $17 on FT. Also close to 3.7k fpps to spend on T$.

If this is like a New Years resolution type thread, I'd like to quit smoking soon too.

My BRM is perfect and I rarely tilt. My problem is volume, I dont play enough.

My roll is at $287, grinding NL10.

I want 1k so bad, would give me such an initiative to keep going.

Lets do it.

Scherer what was your title suggestion?

Alright finally got the ball rolling today. I deposited $80 early today. Started off playing awful, it seemed like I lost all my discipline and concentration that I used to play with and started making horrible calls, bluffing to much and other FPS. Took a break really rethought my attitude and what I was doing and started playing well. Between starting to play well and running hot I'm up to $96.52! Hoping it keeps going this way.
08-17-2010 , 07:52 PM
Ha, my suggestion was really corny. It may of won if this contest had taken place in 2005! I was only kidding about not winning though.

Just played some 84fpp sats to the $3.30r and only won 3/9. I also got 3rd in 3, so I didn't lose any pts there.

EDIT: Someone said FTP lowered their rake at the micros? By how much? And what are the new rake #s?

They haven't lowered the rake recently. I was referring to when they lowered the micro rake from 10% to 5% and wondered if there was then any difference between PS and FTP at uNL.

Well time for my first update.

Started at 155, I played for just under 1 hour 6 tabling around 350 hands. I am not up to 167.50. Got the money in good a lot. exploited a few regs (mostly 3-betting them)

Here's my graph starting at 155.00

Some hands:
This is probably a cooler? I would like some feed back on these if anyone would like to give some.

2 folds, CO calls $0.05, Hero raises to $0.20, 2 folds, CO calls $0.15

Flop: ($0.47) J 8 7 (2 players)
CO checks, Hero bets $0.30, CO calls $0.30

Turn: ($1.07) A (2 players)
CO bets $0.70, Hero raises to $2.30, CO raises to $10.28 all in, Hero calls $2.40 all in

River: ($10.47) 3 (2 players - 2 are all in)

Spoiler:
Final Pot: $10.47
Hero shows Qs 9s (a flush, Queen high)
CO shows Ts As (a flush, Ace high)
CO wins $9.95
(Rake: $0.52)

This villain was pretty weak (65/10 donk bet of 20% on the flop, very small fold to c-bet) so I figured this strong strong line was a made hand of some kind.

I am not sure about my preflop play here. It might be weak just flat calling this here without a PP or some suited A? The villain who stuck around is a major calling station. I have a not that says "calls down 2 streets with MPTK and checks the river. I think he will float IP with any draw for the most part so I keep firing away for value. Maybe I over played my hand?

I was unsure about the river here. There wasn't really enough hands to make a detailed decision on this player. I think he can take the float line with any PP or any piece of the board and possibly TJ and I think we have him beat enough times. He could possibly have 2 pair here as well. The way I looked at this is if I check the river to him and he bets I am in big trouble. If i make a smaller bet and he raises we are pot committed anyway. I felt that I was far enough ahead here to make shoving profitable. What do you think?

Well that's all for today. Hopefully I will be back tomorrow. 3 or so more BI's til I try 10nl. I know 2 BI's really isn't a large enough allowance for a downswing but I think I can make it work if I stick to my game . and if not we can always move back down.

Just played another 2 hour session. Continued to play good, got it in good a lot though lost more than my share this time around. BR: 89.80

The average player on FTP is a lot more taggish than I remember from when i used to play on PS. Is this just because people on FTP are nits and play for rakeback?
08-17-2010 , 10:02 PM
Played another 750 hand session 9-tables of 5NL 6max.

BR: 155.72 --> 162.96

Need 68 more VPPs for the next $10 bonus, also just unlocked the $25 bonus for 2,500 FPPs so I purchased that. The grinding shall continue tomorrow.
08-17-2010 , 11:29 PM
BR - $1,260

Just finished up NL25 and taking shots at NL50 so far so good up 1bi but not feeling the uncomfortable feeling i got from going to NL10 -> NL25

Hopefully keep doing well and stay at NL50! Also hopefully silver iron man this month

Br 123.52

Just played 470ish hands of 5NL and won $16, great sesh, I only 3 table, so its about an hour and a half, but I think I am starting to love 5NL... Doesnt hurt runing a bit over EV
08-18-2010 , 01:34 AM
Ran super hot, won back everything that I lost last night this evening ... maybe the downswing is over

$658 --> $671
08-18-2010 , 01:54 AM
finally a week that started off decent

Started 12 days ago at 10NL with like ~$80
Day 3-4, moved up to 25nl @ $200
Day 6 Moved up to 50nl @ $400

around $1k, some girl dropped my cell phone down the sewer, insta -$280. So I went to go get a new phone, car tire popped -$100, got on my bike, bike tire popped -$15.

i feel like, life balances itself out. had such a good weekend and a sick friday the 13th at making $200/hr for 70+ mins that the friday 13th weekend was a string of bad beats IRL

Withdrew $133
Bankroll: ~$1k

gonna exercise some bankroll management before shots at 100nl (>'.')>... hopefully by Oct 2nd when overtime ends
the days prior to the 12 days were horrible but no one wants to look at a swongy graph
08-18-2010 , 02:28 AM
Hey guys, am I break-even player or taking too long to improve? I'm at 5NL after 50K hands and seem to be on a break-even streak though I was crushing 2NL. I think I've improved but lately I've just been running bad in the past several thousand hands.

the games at 2NL and 5NL will be different, not a huge amount but remember, 2NL, you will run into a lot of people starting their poker path. at 5nl, some of those people are people who have conquered 2nl like you so the competition improves a bit. from the looks of your red line, you are either
1) betting in the wrong spots and folding
2) calling in the wrong spots and folding
what you shall do is now learn board textures compared to villain's range, good spots to c-bet and when not to.

I thought it was normal to have a somewhat negative red line.
I think I'm doing fine figuring which boards to cbet and which to check behind considering all factors. So I guess it's calling too much and folding. Thanks.
