It's not recent..... I think (hope?) he's talking about their change from 10% to 5% awhile ago.
08-16-2010 , 10:02 PM
Yeah I was talking about the drop from 10% to 5%, I was pretty happy on PS at the time so didn't think about switching sites. But since I'm redopisting I figured with similar rake structures I'd prefer the rakeback, especially now I know that PS is raking small pots now as well (thanks for that info btw).

About to show why I still post in BQ, A BB is 2x the big blind of the game?
08-16-2010 , 10:24 PM
yes

pre flop and on the flop.. bets go up in increments of the big blind.... on the turn and river they go up in increments of the big bet.
08-16-2010 , 11:15 PM
hmmm....straight up spewing at the moment.... perhaps it's time for a few more days off from grinding and just stick to just playing a few things for fun.
08-16-2010 , 11:33 PM
To expand on Ice's answer, my understanding is that PokerTracker was initially a Limit Hold 'Em program, so it used Big Bets (2x the big blind) as the units of profit/loss. Since then NL has become the prominent game, where of course there is no Big Bet, so confusion runs amuck.

People that know the difference will use "bb" for big blinds, and "BB" or "ptBB" (PokerTracker Big Bets) for Big Bets ... but sometimes you don't know if the poster you are reading knows this or not.

when i saw the flop, i knew it was over for me. i just felt my knees go weak, my stomach churning and my heart fell. i tilted $100 more after that but i had to get my ass off that table and get all my aggression against that player and get back on control so i ended up 12 tabling and after an hour from going -$150 in 10 mins to ending the session +$15. so in conclusion, i could of saved myself $100 from tilt aggro, nothing I could do with the QQ but I let the best get ahold of me.

bought the Droid 2 today with poker money. Log Me In application is $30, anyone know how good it is with playing poker lol. I wouldn't mind 1 tabling a tourney

As for play today (day 2 of 5NL), well I played 2 sessions, was $-20.44 for the first...took a few hours off, and fired it up again...went $-12 right away, but stuck with it and ended up +$21.57 in session two for a total gain today of $1.13 lol. 4 hours for one cheeseburger.

I want to follow this.
Withdrew my entire roll on PS and FTP (~$1500) for life expenses.
I had some money to spare to threw €200 on iPoker skin ($8000 rakerace, 40% RB).

Dropped some BI's on 20NL, so trying something completely new:
4nlhu.

Up 12BI in 5k hands, @ ~10ptbb/100.
20th rakeback and rakerace is coming in (~€120) so I'll try to take shots at 10NL then.

No graph, i'm @ work.

Good luck all.

I would officially like to join this thread!
Current BR-

roughly (i'm at work right now, so can't check)

$350 FT
$350 Stars

My history-

Started with $25 last January and ran it up to $2.5k playing FR cash only.
Cashed out a grand to get a laptop, and split the roll over FT and Stars.
750 on FT used for cash. (rakeback ldo)
750 on Stars fro SNGS. (lol donkaments)

Ran it up again across both sites but then after some horrible downswings playing cash, and huge losing runs at SNGs i decided to take a break for a month.
So for the world cup this year i decided to treat myself to that 50" TV i always wanted and cashed out again.
Didn't play any poker until the world cup had finished.

Last month went back to 10nl and lost 17buy ins. Something was wrong, i was playing like a ******.

This month we have had major internet problems in our area, which are still not fixed, meaning i've had very intermittent and unreliable net access so i can't grind at all. Sometimes i get to play 5 hours, most of the time i play 5 hands before it disconnects and i can't get back on. Frustrating, but they have told us it will be back to normal today/tomorrow.

I'll post hands and updates ITT

Hello boys and girls!

BR: $157
Site: Full Tilt
Stakes: 5NL, (2 & 5)PLO8, 2.25 SNGs

Progress has been slow since July 1... I think I've only added $20 to my roll since then, with a few violent swings here and there. I love O8, but it hates me

After using up my PT trial and then playing multiple tables without it, I'm starting to see just how beneficial it really is. I'm hoping I can get my roll large enough to justify buying the full version, but right now I'm just trying to stop the bleeding

...getting it in good is going to start paying off soon...right?

Alright I'm in

PS BR: 155

Currently playing 5nl. I think I am going to take a shot at 10nl with 180. If I happen to bust back down to 160 I will move back to 5nl til 200 and try again.

Will try to update every few days or so with some hands as well.
08-17-2010 , 07:31 AM
meh...2 buy-in shots are lame imo. Anything can happen and if you get AA vs KK twice and lose you have to move back down when you did nothing wrong. You're better off waiting till $200 or even 300 and then trying it.
08-17-2010 , 08:00 AM
I say go for it. Maybe you do have a couple coolers and drop back to $160, but that can be made up in one or two sessions of 5nl, so take the shot and see if you are ready. Odds are if you play wisely, you will do fine, seeing as 10nl isn't a much different game from 5nl. Good luck!
08-17-2010 , 10:39 AM
First update from me in this thread. Just played about 1k hands and won about 1.5BI, could have been more except for hand below took a large dent out of my session. I had one hand where I had position and flopped quad K's on a KK4 board, I don't really know how i'm supposed to get value. But they'd raised pre-flop, I called. Flop came KK4r and they lead, I flat. Turn 4. They bet again and I raised a little over the min and they call. River x they check folded, maybe I could have got AAxx hands to put in more on turn but i'm not so sure, hard to make much on that unless they hold a 4.

This hand happened fairly early into the session. I felt I had a fair amount of equity vs AAxx hands, I think I could even be a favourite against a hand like AA45 or something which I don't need as an out. I felt a bit sick pushing the flop but figured I had some fold equity and against AA hands i'm flipping. Villain tanked and I wasn't happy about the call once I saw his cards, turn brought more outs but I couldn't get lucky like everyone else Maybe I could have won the hand if I just called on flop and shoved turn, but i'm not so sure if villain would check.

I actually hated shoving middle set but didn't know what else i'm going to do apart from folding which I liked even less. I was multi-tabling and I saw the turn and thought i'd lost and was about to tilt then I realised i'd won. I still hate these sorts of situations

OK I'm back and building a BR!

I started with $46 nearly a year ago and built it through cash. Graph below. 2NL -> 5NL -> 10NL -> 10NL / 2PLO -> mix of 2NL and 5NL after a break. Took me to $500.

Since then I've been playing HU SNG.

I'm running good but generally they are in pots that "don't matter" so much because I'm already leading. Also winning a single flip makes that graph look awful. I think the winrate at $2 is definitely sustainable, one at $5 is probably sustainable and maybe slightly more. Taking shots at $10 when I've already won a few $5 for the day, will move up permanently when I've played more.

Will maybe dabble in some 25NL later. Will see.

BR: ~$615 (120BI roll FTW!)
