you should be more apt to call on double paired boards, imo. boats are much more rare in a lot of cases hand combinatorically.

edit: i bet turn too
05-02-2010 , 01:29 PM
Do you play PLO a lot too rafifer? I think turn could be a bet too, although it could induce bluffs from villain and 45 to bet.

Just in the middle of a session, up a few buy-ins. I think it's a bit easier than usual and i'm running fairly good. Flopped a straight flush and got paid off by Q high flush. Flop trips on KK3 and got it all in 3 way vs 33xx and Kxxx and I filled up on turn. This was my biggest pot so far, I thought I was beat when I got called on turn, not sure what villain's up to with the call really.

Finished for now, up about 4 buy-ins for the day I think in about 900 hands or so. Something around that. It definitely seems easier today and a bit like printing money but i'll let people keep their money for now. I'll be ready for PLO10 soon, almost got the bankroll I want for it.

Went into mini-spew mode and pulled a few stupid bluffs but then settled down and won maybe another buy-in or so. Here's my latest PTR, I didn't play yesterday and it's accurate to within a few $.

Another BI today from only playing 2 small sessions. Been watching some DC vids which have helped. It definatly pays off to be the agressor in the right spots.

Following hand im not sure if it was the right play:

Full Tilt No-Limit Hold'em, $0.05 BB (5 handed) - Full-Tilt Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com

MP ($5.28)
Hero (Button) ($8.29)
SB ($5.74)
BB ($5.05)
UTG ($5.94)

Preflop: Hero is Button with 10, 10
2 folds, Hero bets $0.15, SB raises to $0.45, 1 fold, Hero calls $0.30

Flop: ($0.95) K, 7, 3 (2 players)
SB bets $0.75, Hero calls $0.75

Turn: ($2.45) 5 (2 players)
SB bets $0.95, Hero raises to $2, 1 fold

Total pot: $4.35 | Rake: $0.29

Results:
Hero didn't show 10, 10.
Outcome: Hero won $4.06

He bet out, i dont often believe hes hit the board, more of a case of he has a PP or draw so i called seeing what he would do on the river. His bet said to me "I surrender". Popped the raise, he folded. Before folding he said "Feck QQ..."

His stats where 48/25 over roughly 40 hands.

Next hand Villian was 25/0 with 5 hands so nothing to go on, again leading out told me middle pair or maybe an Ace too.

He took awhile to call my reraise on the turn, river was a quickish check. I thought he either has the nuts or is unsure of where his hand stands and hopes to see a free showdown. No chance, so i bet. Glad i did

Turn: ($0.75) 7 (2 players)
SB bets $0.40, Hero raises to $1.30, SB calls $0.90

River: ($3.35) 2 (2 players)
SB checks, Hero bets $2.90, SB calls $2.69 (All-In)

Total pot: $8.73 | Rake: $0.58

One of my downfalls last year was becomming to aggressive, not knowing when to stop betting etc. Tonight felt like that again, but it worked...

got a $22 scoop ticket for free...used it today. I don't know how I played tournaments for so long.. I've never been so bored playing as I was today.

yeah i just played the 1/4 mil and am about to play the $22 500K gtd

the former consisted of doing pretty much nothing, then getting JJ in pre against two massive droolers v KJ and 99, 9 on the flop
05-02-2010 , 07:27 PM
Ice, howd you get a free $22 SCOOP Ticket? I was considering using my fpps to get into an $11 Event, and maybe play some satellites as well.

I did the blogger online championship thing a few months back... and that qualified me for a super easy promotion where I just had to take a few phrases that they gave me, and write a few blog posts with those phrases..which link to pokerstars website.

BR back to 215 or so.

Played ~50/50 5 and 10nl deep the last session. Ran 4 BI's (250bb tables) under expectation as well as ran KK into AA for another stack at 10nl so run ban means that shot is done for now.

Will grind back to 300+ at 5nl within the next week. Right now I cant decide what I will do at that point. I might just run 100bb 10nl since no deep tables after that level, but i like deepstack so would rather play it when its available. May just stay at 5nl for a few weeks to get 500 or so and then go to 10 nl deepstacked.

I want to try to get in at least 80-100k hands this month. Last month put in 40,677 and did not play much at all. Played 6500 yesterday and will be playing a long session in just a bit.

BR: $83

Didn't play a lot this weekend, but had a pretty good 5 BI upswing. It should have been more, except for:

1. Morons who limp-c/c-c/c-c/ AA have owned me a couple times.

2. I'm horrible at playing AK. I lose more money with this hand than any other. I constantly find myself in spots where I 3bet preflop, then my Cbet gets called when I completely miss and 1/4 a buy-in is instantly gone. Can someone convince me that changing it up and flatting raises OOP with AK is completely moronic? I know 3betting is the proper play, but running at -26.3 ptbb/100 is ridiculous with a "premium" hand.

Do you use a HUD or have any type of read on your opponents? Great to know when you should and should not 3bet in some spots with AK and what not. Look into holdem manager if you don't already have it.
05-03-2010 , 04:26 AM
Generally I pick tables chock full of calling stations who don't fold to 3bets often. I think I need to try waiting to flop something good more often before i take initiative against these types of players, particularly in the blinds. 3bet > c/f is weak, but more often then not, when they call 3bets pre they'll call a cbet, and any further betting with ace high seems like a free stack giveaway.

I use PT3, by the way.

Bit of a 'meh' session last night, guys. Played 400 hands of FR and nothing really came together, but I still finished up $.63, so it could be worse. I'm sure there's some useful lessons buried in some of these hands, so it's all good.

Session: $.63
Total +/-: $22.75
Total Bankroll: $52.33
05-03-2010 , 07:20 AM
UnbJames, You better have some rebuy and add-on money, or else you're at a disadvantage right off the bat. You should take the 5.50T$ and play some more sats with it, to try an get rebuy/add on money, that way you you have the same size stack as everyone else.
