tough break there... but think of the sklansky bucks!

I don't care if others post bad beats.. it's just something I'm personally trying to steer away from, as it's a bad way to think. Especially in cash games.. there really aren't bad beats, as you always have the option of reloading and grinding it back.

Ha, Sklansky bucks dont build my BR. They're more useless than a bad beat story lol. I had another good hand, I pumped it up to .20c pre w/ QQ and got 3bet to .90c by this regular who I have almost 1k hands on. I know for sure he has AA but I was on tilt because of that hand I just posted, so I flat called an flopped a set of Qs. Checked it to him and he fired $2 into $1.87 so I c/r all in and he snaps it off.

Then on another table I bluffed him off a $1.50 pot and showed him 7 high lol, so then on another table in a BvB hand I minraised pre an he called, I bluffed the flop an turn but I hit runner runner straight and bet big on the river and he called me down w/ A high lol..I transfered my emotional tilt over to him. So that brought my spirits up, because we usually avoid each other, unless we have big hands.

Only managed to lose $5.15 in my session and that was with getting stacked 3 times. 3 bad beats, and I dealt one out myself.

BR on Tilt= ~300. MO is to keep grinding micro mtt's, with occasional 5nl and bink a MiniFtops to move up in stakes. GLA

BR : 0$
I will deposit on FT in Few days

Hey guys. This is my first post on the 2p2 forums, so i'll just introduce myself i guess. The names Matt, I'm 21 blah blah blah... there, introduced.

Anyway i didn't really know what heading to post this under, but i was looking for help from people who have done/attempting the "novelty" $0 to something challenge.

I have free rolled a starting capital, and decided to play the $1 +0.15 DON's on Pokerstars. Which is going alright i guess.

I think i have an edge in SnG's / MTT's rather than Cash Games, if that helps the advisors.

I'm not really new to poker, i have had a few big cash's before. But i always sucked at bankroll management (so i just cashed everything out before i went broke) i guess this is just some kind of excuse to learn how to handle my roll....

Anyway here is a link to my blog that I'm updating daily.
http://mpw2009.blogspot.com/

Any feedback / advice would be welcomed.

So i guess i will end with a hello to all you 2p2's. Nice to finally be part of the community.

Peace,
Matt
I will be following your progress with interest. I started a similar project November 23 to convert 10$ to 1000$ and finished the first of this month. Watch out for burnout. Playing the exact same type of game can lead to burnout which can tempt you out of bankroll management (it did me). I recommend playing cash games and MTTs, as well as other Sit and gos every now and then just to mix things up. Even if you're not as profitable it will keep your mindset fresh. My challenge blog is http://ramned.blogspot.com. It is on hold atm. I had to withdraw the entire roll for college lol. Best of luck!

Minor barg: Roll on the 12th: $6.37. Rush 4 rollz imo.

Bankroll: $183.35 on FT, could have been $233.35 but I staked someone at NAPT and ran bad
Stake: 5NL and 10NL shots

Currently clearing $50 bonus on FT.
02-23-2010 , 11:02 PM
ok..other than mini ftops.. fu full tilt.
02-23-2010 , 11:07 PM
Full Tilt blows imo. The software is terrible an when you have several tables up it will lag. If you play anything other than NLHE or PLO, they have no traffic. The one good thing I like about FT is their different mtt's/sng's..like KO mtt's and cash out mtt's, I think them are cool, Also like the deep stack 90 man sng.

FTP cash game is ALOT harder than Stars, their high rake KILLS your winrate. I'm a 10bb+ winner at stars but at ftp im like 2bb.

Get RB and Bonus and dont play the micros at FTP.
02-23-2010 , 11:29 PM
FTP -$435
Stars -$280

Going to focus on single table sng's for the rest of the month and give cash a break.
02-23-2010 , 11:36 PM
I'm taking the next few days off.. be back Monday.. gl the rest of the month everyone.
02-23-2010 , 11:38 PM
I played some 5nL rush today for the first time, and did pretty well too. I'm thinking I may have a go at clearing the fulltilt bonus.
02-23-2010 , 11:42 PM
It's a trap... you'll run well for 10k hands.. and you'll think rush poker is easy and a cash cow... then say hello to doomswitch.

I don't think I ever did give you a welcome back gina... so.. welcome back!

For anyone that somehow doesn't know... gina is the originator of the build a bankroll threads.

Hmmm is FT really that horrible? Even with rakeback? I was considering jumping over there when I move up to 25NL for first deposit bonus + rakeback + free CR.

FWIW, I haven't noticed any lag and I've routinely had 16 tables up. (sounds more like an internet connection problem than software issue)

I can't say much about the quality difference of the players. but I've recently heard a lot of vets noting how soft stars is

I haven't looked at the most recent promo at stars yet but it definitely works out to more perks for beginning players @ FTP. It seems like 25NL with good volume is where people are drawing the line and focusing on stars probably because it's possible to actually grind points at that level

Gina if you have trouble finding someone to trade that 90 I'm plenty rolled at FTP so I could help as a last resort I suppose

i just moved my roll back to FT for 25nl but i just did this two days ago and am playing the 10nl games first. not my first time there but the games arent any harder at all IMO. It seems to me that people will just stack off lighter on FT. IDK why but thats how it seems. esp. with the rakeback its legit.

Blind, FT only allows me to play 8 Tables at a shot, and it consistently lags. I haven't played a solid session there since x-mas, but it was much worse than stars for me. I can play 9-12 tables on PS and have no issues ever. When I use my HUD on either site, it makes the computer lag a lot, so I had to stop using it.

I think when I reach 25NL I'll go back to FT because I have RB, and I don't put enough volume in to reach platinum/supernova on PS. I'd like to see some stats on 10NL & 25NL FR to see how much they got in RB for like 20k/30k/40k hands, then maybe compare that to how many VPPs I could earn in the same amount of hands.
02-24-2010 , 01:44 AM
I'm not sure how it works out with FR but I think it's like 2 cents every 3 hands at 25NL 6max...I doubt it's that much different either way at 9max...probably a bit higher if I had to guess.

Post it when you check I'd be interested to see if it's gotten any easier to earn over there.
02-24-2010 , 01:55 AM
Well I just asked a friend and his PT3 said he had 24.8k hands at 10NL FR and his PT3 MGR says $300.40, not sure how accurate PT3 is, but if it's close that would be around $81 in RB. I just found this as well..

http://www.fpppro.com/pokerstars-rakeback.php

Pretty much compares FT RB vs. PS VIP system
02-24-2010 , 02:03 AM
So if you are sure you can make platinum, stars takes the edge. otherwise to the tilt ;-)

Haven't been playing much because I've been pretty sick the past few days, dropped a few BI over the weekend and decided not to play until I'm feeling better, it was just spew on my part. BR currently about $125, hopefully I can ditch this cold and start grinding again.
02-24-2010 , 06:34 AM
I got drunk and tilt off my entire bankroll again. But I grinded my last 4.66 into 45 dollars playing cash games. I need to get some ****ing discipline and not be an alchy. If I did i'd have such a stacked br. Oh life.
02-24-2010 , 06:53 AM
Just started on Full Tilt yesterday with only a 10buck start roll.
Now 15.

Planning to keep playin the 1.20 sng non-turbos till I get up to about 50 and then move up to 2.25.

Thoughts?

Pretty new when it comes to poker, played a while on stars before but lost some 100 bucks since I didn't have a proper baknroll management (+ where a hell of a donkey sometimes)
