Starting online poker as a "serious" adventure. I've played for a long time just here and never really took it serious.. like tracking my play, worrying about proper br management, etc.

Right now I'm going to school and living off my GI Bill and some freelance work, so poker can be a serious hobby/job without having to feed me.

I deposited $500 on FT and am going to try to run it to 5k in 90-100 days, even though I know attaching a number to my play etc, may not be the best, but personally I feel the challenge of it will help me personally. I bought HE manager and I'll post some graphs etc soon.

So, today ... BR $500... got rakeback/bonus action to hit but want to focus on strong play as well.. probably no more than 4 tabling so I can stay focused.

Tough one dude. You will have to ignore conservative BR management to pull this off.
02-23-2010 , 04:43 PM
BODOG - $500
FT - $200
PACIFIC -$280
ACED - $50

plan of action - going to be playing bodog 25nl, aced 5nl, pacific 10nl to finish off bonuses i have at those sites, then withdraw and move fully to FT where the rake back is much better 'cause its dealt.

Goldfish r tasty!

I definitely know how you feel with climbing (so frustrating), seeing they still get all in like that is good tho, cause when you take a shot and finally run on a heater you will be taking that paper.

congratulations on 5k posts ... now go beat up 10NL

Missed this thread ....

anyway ill post it here i guess.

Hey guys. This is my first post on the 2p2 forums, so i'll just introduce myself i guess. The names Matt, I'm 21 blah blah blah... there, introduced.

Anyway i didn't really know what heading to post this under, but i was looking for help from people who have done/attempting the "novelty" $0 to something challenge.

I have free rolled a starting capital, and decided to play the $1 +0.15 DON's on Pokerstars. Which is going alright i guess.

I think i have an edge in SnG's / MTT's rather than Cash Games, if that helps the advisors.

I'm not really new to poker, i have had a few big cash's before. But i always sucked at bankroll management (so i just cashed everything out before i went broke) i guess this is just some kind of excuse to learn how to handle my roll....

Anyway here is a link to my blog that I'm updating daily.
http://mpw2009.blogspot.com/

Any feedback / advice would be welcomed.

So i guess i will end with a hello to all you 2p2's. Nice to finally be part of the community.

Peace,
Matt

-6bi day.

ugh.

That was how my month started BB. Chug through.

1k breakeven stretch for the day for me. Was up a buy-in but 96>QQ.

BR = $430
Game = $10NL on Pacific, about to move to (Euros)10NL on Paradise.
Goals: get proficient at 4-tables plus, start to 3bet light more, stop making bad calls on the river because "there's no way he can have a deuce in his hand, he called a 3bet OOP". Sustain 5BB/100+ at 10NL, take some shots at 20NL, 25NL on Paradise in the next month or so.
02-23-2010 , 06:20 PM
BR= $25
plan: volume, at such a low stake its hard to stay on it, so i plan to keep at it and hopefully be up to 5nl by end of march....for now 2nl
02-23-2010 , 06:26 PM
Marra, you should try the opposite, and NOT "3bet light" at the micros. I've been reading that we're there to build our BR and be able to move up in stakes as fast as possible. So if something goes wrong, or doesn't go your way, like a guy having a deuce in his hand after calling a 3bet, then you just set yourself back. Idk, that's just my .02 cents.
02-23-2010 , 06:38 PM
BR: 245$
Stakes: 10NL.

I still have 40 dollars left to clear on my First Deposit Bonus and my aim is to clear that next week, and then clear that Fast50 bonus. So my goal at the end of february is somewhere around 350$.

meh.. it was more a "I'm lacking sleep so I'm going to complain about a few standard bad beats." than anything.... complaining about beats is something I've worked really hard on removing from a lot of my posts. Like I told snipa in the Build a br 3.... if you look back at build a br 1 and 2.... (I think it was mostly 2).. I had streams and streams of bad beat posts... and I look back at it now, and I mostly laugh at how naive I was.. and a bit embarrassed... so now I take try to take the tommy angelo route and just let it roll

and fwiw... as soon as I clear my bonus at full tilt.. my money will be on stars, trying to beat up 25nl. I'm just moving down at rush poker so that a bad run doesn't negate the bonus.

I've heard stars is a bit softer (10NL at full tilt was only a little weaker than 25NL on stars or something like that)...are you going for Super Nova? What sorta volume at 25 would it take to reach it?

lol no I'm not going for supernova... I like the software 100000x better than full tilts. I don't play nearly enough volume for me to hit supernova. A big month for hands played for me is 12,000-15,000. I only 3-4 table.. usually only 3. I'm cashing out some money in July... so rather than move money back and forth, I'm just leaving it on stars, where I know cashouts come fast, until July... (maybe sooner though if I go on a nice run the next few months).. where I will be moving to 2 or 3 other sites.

pretty sure the extra points earned during happy hours don't count towards bonuses anyway mate, someone might correct me on that

Nice, because I thought I was the biggest BR nit! I'm glad to see someone with 200 (TWO HUNDRED) BIs for 5NL and still playing it! I have a little more than 110 BIs for 5NL and continue to play it.

Ice, I know you said you were done whining about bad beats, and I promise this is the last one I post in here...until the next time! I was loving this table because I could open limp very speculative hands an see tons of flops w/ em. I was limping all my small to mid PPs too (22-99) because they started to get into raising wars. There was two manical idiots at the table, as you'll see in this hand..I guess it's not a bad beat when looking at the preflop cards, but when all the money goes in I'm way ahead.

Yep - I am a BR nit since I mainly play 10NL on stars - But with only $70 on FTP, I'm only going to play 5NL until ~$150 and I'll move to 10NL
