Finally got a laptop back and working. Shame it's only the second rate one but nonetheless, I can play poker again!

Started my grinding up again, up over $10 so not too bad for Day 1.

fml...once again my morning session was a huge grind. Not sure why it is, started off running pretty bad, having to make some big folds, getting sucked out on, freerolled and losing etc. I was down over 3 buy-ins, trying not to get tilted. One thing i'm a little proud of is I had AA53ss from CO, I raise, SB calls and BB who's a fish 3bets so I 4bet. Flop JTTss (I have no flush draw) and fish donk bets for close to pot I begrudingly folded after i'd put in over 30bb pre-flop and fish turned over JJ and someone had a T. Managed to run a bit better though later on and after being down 3 finished up about 50bb which is lame after 2100 hands.

This is how I started, I know I should pretty much always fold turn when they do this but I figured if he had a Q they'd bet flop. So only thing is KK or some donk with a straight. Pretty brutal I hit the case T.

This makes me feel sick too, I knew the river was bad but only reason I called was because I didn't put villain on Kxxx hand and I thought if he had AAxx with clubs he'd not be shoving a flush on the river given my line is so obviously Kxxx and he could be up against a boat. I mis-read the situation and how much of a donk villain is

A bit of a better 1500 hand session this afternoon. Running like absolute crap though and i've had enough for one day. I started off the session losing 2 buy-ins in some very standard spots. Then I spent the rest of it grinding, trying to dodge variance and having to make a ton of tough folds and getting outdrawn despite flopping nuts. Flop came QJ8ss and I had T9, villain check-raises and because i'm sure a nit worried about getting freerolled I call. Turn Q completing the flush too, villain leads. I fold and he shows QJ As I was just quitting I lost about 50bb getting it all in on turn with middle set/gutshot draw vs bottom set + flush draw and flush hit of course. Up $23 for the session though, could have been a lot better....

This is how I like to start my session. Just middle set and can't dodge the flush draw....

I was looking at the games tonight thinking how they looked so tempting with all the people sitting with 100bb and deeper so I decided to have a go. Started off going up about 1.5 buy-ins pretty fast running pretty hot. Then I started to run a bit bad, coolers etc. Not running well in multi way pots with sets vs wraps. So I lost my profit + down another 2 buy-ins. PLO swings start to get tiring, eventually made it back +3 buy-ins (in 1600 hands) so +5 buy-ins for the day. There's definitely a few donks around at this time and i'm starting to feel a bit more zen like when playing and not feeling the need to tilt. Just need to remember this is about the long run and playing dumb hands usually just costs me more money.

wtf...i'm actually a favourite here. I thought I was pushing a thin spot and behind. 56% for me.

Merge accepting US signups is the greatest thing ever. No need to grind on Stars for single-digit rakeback, a generally solid player base, 4+ shortstackers on every table, and needing a miracle to get a fish at your table. Had four tables running and every single opponent was American, and maybe 70% would earn the fish colour on Stars.

I was going to try and learn 6max this month but forget it. I'm tempted to take a shot at Merge NL25 but my merge roll is pretty small. Besides, if NL25 is as easy as I hope it is, it shouldn't take too long to grind up enough at NL10. And if it's not

e: I should throw a hand in here. No reads, it's only been 10 hands.

      No-Limit Hold'em, $0.10 BB (9 handed)

      Hero (Button) ($16.11)
      BB ($6.70)

Preflop: Hero is Button with A, A
      3 folds, MP2 calls $0.10, 2 folds, Hero bets $0.45, 1 fold, BB raises $1.85, 1 fold, Hero ???

Pot is $2.45. Villain has $4.75 behind. Is this always a 4bet? I hate doing it because it turns my hand face-up but people always call anyway. If I just call I can get it in on pretty much any flop (or turn if flop is safe). Of course I am losing value from high aces if their card doesn't hit the flop, but I lose value from QQ/JJ when that card does come so it's a wash. When I 4bet I am pretty much only getting AA/KK/sometimes AK to bite, and I don't think villain is pot committed just yet (massive 3bet notwithstanding). Which line do you think is the best value?

If it's heads up I don't see any need to 4-bet at all. The last thing you want is for vil to fold. Any c-bet from vil will practically pot commit them anyway and you have position so you can make sure that all his stack is in by the river.

I took friday off, came back to tables today and started off running bad with AAds all in pre-flop for about 50bb vs KQQJsss and they hit the Q. But shortly after 3betting AJT9ds OOP and AKQ flop and getting called down on every street by KK was nice + I got a bit lucky. Then my luck flipped and I went from up just over 2.5 buy-ins to near even running bad. Got in some big pots and some worked out, others didn't - finished up $25 in 2400 hands.

lol...i'm a bit of a donk. I even considered folding on flop. ups

Another AAxx hand, I almost considered not 3betting it OOP. I checked flop because I didn't really fancy seeing a pot raise and then having a shove/fold spot. fml...just played a really long session. Started off going up 2 buy-ins, then I lost stacks with some failed bluffs. Then I got involved with a fish who was raising every pot and I got it in with horrible shape 2 times to lose, they were kind of coolers but that was another 2 buy-ins. Ran a bit bad elsewhere and I was down 13 buy-ins from my session peak. I made about 5 buy-ins back, playing really tired then lost it. Decided to quit down 7 buy-ins on the session. It's so frustrating to hit peaks and then fall back. 8900 hands for the day, think i'm down about 5 buy-ins overall as I won 2 earlier. Too tired to go through my hands now but i'll look over them tomorrow but probably not post here just to give everyone a break

love Merge, far softer than Stars and much better RB. I think 23bb/100 might be what you folks call a 'heater', but I can definitely do better than the 4bb/100 I was scraping on Stars (and that's not factoring in 35% RB either)

Checked my graph and I have a positive redline! I know, don't be obsessed with it, but I've learned a lot about sensible aggression recently and it is paying off. Example, a spot like this. Villain is, well, I guess he's sort of in the middle. A decent ABC player, 20/16 (a bit high for FR I think), but positionally aware.

      No-Limit Hold'em, $0.10 BB (9 handed)

      UTG ($22.12)
      UTG+1 ($3.15)
      MP1 ($11.59)
      MP2 ($19.05)
      MP3 ($5.46)
      Hero (CO) ($11.47)
      Button ($5.40)
      SB ($11.92)
      BB ($10.45)

Preflop: Hero is CO with A, J
UTG bets $0.30, 4 folds, Hero calls $0.30, 3 folds

3betting would be a mistake, I'm only narrowing my range and folding out worse. Villain has an 80% cbet stat so I'm expecting him to fire on almost any flop.

      Flop: ($0.75) 7, 5, 3 (2 players)
      UTG bets $0.40

of course. But what's his range for raising UTG? Pockets and high aces pretty much. The aces are a bit more likely, and also much more likely to fold to some aggression. Furthermore, I just called, instead of 3betting. So my range is really wide, while his is pretty tiny. I can represent just about anything, and I choose to represent... something. A small pocket that figures to be good? An overpair? A suited connector or ragged ace? Maaaaaaybe a draw? It is a mystery!

      Hero raises $1.50, 1 fold

      Total pot: $1.55

To most of you this hand is probably obvious but this is something I've pretty much just realized "hey! This works! I can do this thing!"

Anyway, gonna post a hand that I am actually curious about.

      No-Limit Hold'em, $0.10 BB (7 handed)

      MP1 ($20.77)
      MP2 ($18.90)
      CO ($6.60)
      Hero (Button) ($11.82)
      SB ($5.10)
      BB ($11.62)
      UTG ($10.80)

Preflop: Hero is Button with Q, A
      1 fold, MP1 bets $0.30, 2 folds, Hero calls $0.30, SB calls $0.25, 1 fold

MP1 is an ABC player and pretty tight from EP. I think calling IP with only the blinds to act is better than a 3b here, AQo might not even be the bottom of his 3b continuing range so I'm blowing its value with a 3b.

Didn't expect SB to come along though. Very tight-passive, 17/2/0.7 in 50 hands. His range is strong speculative hands.

      Flop: ($1) 6, Q, 4 (3 players)
      SB bets $0.20, MP1 calls $0.20, Hero raises $1.80, SB calls $1.60, 1 fold

I've got what figures to be the best hand with TPTK, and I'm not going to give 78/Ax/two clubs a free turn. SB calling a pot-size raise with a player behind and no huge draws on the board is odd.

      Turn: ($4.80) J (2 players)
      SB checks, Hero ???

SB has $3.00 behind. The only draw he could really have is a flush. Gonna be gross if a club hits the river. A set is definitely possible. I don't think he can possibly call a bet with worse though and I can't bet enough to deny his draw without shoving. His range is pretty much 44, 66, maybe Axcc/KQcc (anything other than AQ/KQ has to fold to that raise, doesn't it?) There is some value to be had here, but I don't see it with these stack sizes (suppose we each had another $10 added on, b/f here)

Yeah, it's annoying. But I guess it's inevitable playing about 15 tables at a time. I might cut it back to about 9-10 for now, it's just I get on these waiting lists and then don't want to give up games.

I reviewed last night, I don't think there's too much wrong. Losing some 60/40, losing with 50% 3 way in big pots and I bluffed a bit too much which I might just give up with.

I messed this up, I should have bet river but I probably get called. I didn't realise I had blocker till villain chucked out that weak bet and I decided to put him to the test. Can't fault me for having heart

Pretty much next hand, same villain. I should learn better than to try bluff the same person twice in a row with nut blockers. I could have saved money if i'd just hit the fold button.

This fish was playing every hand, raising and cbetting every hand. I decided to 3bet it in position and was getting ready to stack off on flop. I was 68% on flop, I struggled to put a 2xxx in his range, I don't know why cos he was playing every hand. I got it in with horrible shape deep. This villain ran really well vs me in other pots, I had bottom set vs top set. I shoved bottom 2 vs top 2 and flush draw. I did suck out on him once but for someone playing every hand he did get lucky.

*sigh* just had the most ridiculously tilting session. Poker sucks. First of all I start off with a huge fish I know at the table raising every hand, I pick up some decent things but seem to miss every flop. When I do eventually get something and flop big he outdraws me so i'm now down about 2 buy-ins on the session. Eventually make most of it back, then started running bad. I think I missed every single flop, when I flopped the nuts i'd go behind on the turn and even when I flopped a monster they still managed to find a way to win. I don't know how i'm not down more but that's -5.5 buy-ins on the session, along with my -5 on the weekend so it's been a fun ride so far I'll try later I guess but my progress has stopped now so just got to wait it out and hope to run good. Going to close and re-open stars to reset it as it's being brutal to me.

Hand against mega fish, I didn't see a lot of point in 3betting pre-flop because my position sucks + I know he's calling and i'm going to miss the flop a lot of the time. Flop seemed massive vs the fish who could have anything from a flush draw to overpair so I got it in.

I was quite proud about this call, annoyingly I think his rep paid off for him on other tables against me so I might be slightly down on the river hero call.

I was a little tilted but it's not so bad. I was 40/60, vs AAxx with no flush draw it's a flip. Bit of a thin spot but not terrible.

fml...this is how good I run. I flop top set + flush draw, i'm getting ready to go for the check raise and then villain checks behind and turns a 2 outer and i've got to call to draw to flush and just in case my set is still good. Think i'm going to just bet my hand in future unless it's a monster like quads.
