It's time for a new thread..... the old thread was depressing with all of the Black Friday stuff being in there. I think by now, most Americans know how they are going to handle poker post-BF.

What this thread is: It's basically a big poker goals and challenges thread, a bbv thread, and a strat thread all rolled into one. All of us with small bankroll and big dreams post in here to brag, bitch, get help, and motivate each other into improving and building a bankroll.

We are going to go from this:

To this:

Bankroll
Bodog: $400

Plan of Attack
- Start actually working on my game
- Focus mostly on cash games.. 10nl until I hit $500 on Bodog.
- Allow a few days per month for sngs/mtts.

Things in the game have changed... but there is still money to be made.. so on we gogogo!

New thread, new beginning.

This is my first month of somewhat serious play - I screwed around on FTP and Carbon for 7 months but never got any volume in. I'd play 100 or 200 hands, if I did well I'd play again the next day, if I did poorly I'd get all mopey and quit for a couple of weeks. After all that I was almost exactly breakeven (well, okay, Full Tilt's still got my fifty bucks. I guess I'm a loser.)

My highest hands/month was 3000. I challenged myself to play at least 5,000 this month. It was a grind to play 167 hands a day, since I could only play two tables comfortably. I went on a cooler and tilted away a couple of NL5 buyins and got mopey again.

I set my goal at 5,000 hands so I had to keep playing. I decided I'd try my hand at limit. It was fun, but I wasn't very good, wasn't learning anything, and besides, my goal was to move up in NL. So I went back to the no-limit tables.

Whoops, accident. I left the search filter on my limit settings. So instead of playing NL5 I was seated at NL10. I decided to roll with it, had a winning session, and realized it wasn't all that much tougher than NL5 and I could probably do this.

Shortly after, something clicked and I could easily 4-table. Putting in hands was a breeze now.

I had a couple of bad sessions, and rather than be mopey and quit I decided to play through them. This, too, was a bad idea. I am much more prone to tilt than I thought, and was playing extremely sub-optimally. I blew 4 BIs in a 600 hand session and felt pretty miserable about it since I was playing very stupidly.

But, I came back, and through hard work (and just a little bit of luck (okay probably a lot)) reversed that. I'm very optimistic about next month - if I can come out slightly ahead tilting like a monkey, with a bit of discipline I can do a lot better next month.

Bankroll @ August 1: $100
Bankroll now: $105 (+$10 in bonuses)

I'm aware $100 isn't a sufficient roll for NL10 but that is just my account balance, I can afford to redeposit if necessary. If I bust, I will rebuy for $100 and move down to NL5.

Goals for September:
- Quit as soon as I feel like I'm not playing 100%. Even if there is a whale to your right. There's plenty of fish in the sea...
- 10k hands minimum
- Take a shot 6-tabling. I've 5/6-tabled a little bit while moving tables and waiting to unpost, but I'm not yet comfortable doing it a lot.
- I'd like to make SilverStar next month, which according to PS's site is about 12-13k hands at NL10. We'll see.

My graph is pretty breakeven but I feel like I've made a lot of progress the last 30 days. If I could only move up in stakes and add tables every month I'd be a millionaire in no time

1 month into rebuilding after BF, had a go at Live Proing it in homegames around my area (not 21 ) but failed, so back on the grind on Merge.

Basically all I'll say to all of you is that hard work pays off.

I was a lazy 180/mtt reg pre BF, barely studied etc, and since BF I've been working my ass off at improving and becoming one of the best regs playing my games.

ROI wise on the entire merge network im tied for #1 at 3% pre RB and I still study in HEM and SNG wiz about 1-2 hrs a day.

Always strive to improve every day

Have just started NLHE after years of playing LHE, grinding from a starting roll of $200 at NL10.

Goal for September is to move up to NL25, so achieve a $500 roll by the end of the month.

Progress is good so far, coming up to 10k hands at approx 6ptbb/100.

What are the BR requirements for MTTs? Thinking of adding some MTTs into the mix once I hit my goal next month

If you grind them all the time.... you want 150-200 buyins. If you just plan on taking the occasional shot for something fun and different.. then I would say no more than the equivalent of one cash game buyin... preferably stick to like 50-100 buyins.

I will use this to log my progress with the assumption that no one is actually reading it.

Starting roll: I deposited $200 on RPM before they stopped accepting US players and have since run it up to $273 playing 25NL. I'll drop back down to 10NL if I dip to $200. Hopefully I can continue to run good.

I will be playing 10NL and 25NL with occasional MTTs and SNGs as time allows. I normally wouldn't care about keeping tabs in a public venue like this, but I figure having to share with the community will keep me more disciplined with regard to my largest leak: calling down to see if I was right.

I still haven't decided on HEM or PT3, and someone mentioned that there were some new versions coming out soon, so I may just wait for that to happen.

I don't have any actual goals other than to just play the best I can in each hand, having sound reasoning at least in my mind for every play I make. Too often I find myself on autopilot just playing my cards, missing out on value, good bluffing opportunities, or calling down too light when I know I should fold.

My goals for september:

- Stop cashing out!
- Getting from 6 tables to 9 tables without any lower Winrate
- Make at least 350$ in September
- Moving up after September
- Playing at least 30.000 Hands

BR Currently: 1097.66$ + 263.41$ on neteller + 47$ on FTP

New thread, old thread....that is still a sweet, sweet graph.

I think I hate you.

This is my second time through; I played a lot last summer just trying to learn. Only deposited like $100 and eventually went busto. Didn't re-load and instead spent a few months reading and studying a bit. Had to put poker on the back burner for a while in the winter and spring due to some industry exams, but those are done for now. Deposited $500 a few months ago and started playing. Just to show you how out of the loop I was, I didn't even know about Black Friday until early June (!).

Anyway, was up a bit, down a bit, down a lot after hitting a few rough spots. Actually went and played some live poker at a casino here in London, and while I didn't do that great, something seemed to click and I went on a massive heater. Ended up all the way back to break even plus a 1BI profit. I hit a pretty big downswing for a couple of weeks and had to move down after my bankroll fell under $200, but have righted the ship quite a bit.

Current BR: $360
(P/L: -$140)
September goals: Try to play at least 5,000 hands. Get back to break even.

My first entry in the new thread. I decided to have a go tonight, I played 1k hands and finished up about a buy-in. Annoyingly I was up over 2 but I ran bad in a few spots and was down on the session before I made some back. Every hand had something a bit nasty about it so apologies .

I could have 3bet pre-flop but didn't want to build a big pot OOP. I could have even jammed it on flop but decided to peel. Got it in with the nuts and villain in horrible shape and found a way to lose.

4. Play tight
- Play as many hands against the fish In position as u can! Try to see the flop as cheap as u can with speculative Hands. If you hit good... bet bet bet

5. Learn how to fold
6. Learn how to Squeeze max value out of fish
7. Dont bluff the monkey
8. Read them Like a book

Might need to move down (my cutoff is BR of $250). Had a bit of a bad session last night; most of the losses came on 3 hands. One hand I think I just went too far in the hand with just TPGK. One hand I got rivered. And one hand I kinda out-leveled myself against a 70/12 fish (lesson: even fish can have good hands on occasion...).

BR on Stars: $365

As it stands: Moving from 5NL to 10NL by mixing tables while 6 tabling.

Aim for month: Completely move to 10NL and hopefully be near $500 depending on volume. I have half this month free though, so time to hit the grind!

Edit: If any other 5NL regs want to discuss screennames/stats I might have on them feel free to PM me.

So far I've played like a complete moron today
Let me know what you would do in this spot? Villain had been playing kind of snug, not opening with too many hands, but I didn't have alot of hands on him either.

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $0.10 BB (6 handed) - PokerStars Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com

UTG ($15.81)
MP ($24.74)
CO ($10.45)
Hero (Button) ($7.31)
SB ($3.78)
BB ($10.34)

Preflop: Hero is Button with 9, 9
UTG bets $0.30, 1 fold, CO calls $0.30, Hero calls $0.30, 1 fold, BB calls $0.20

Flop: ($1.25) 8, 7, 2 (4 players)
BB checks, UTG bets $0.90, 1 fold, Hero calls $0.90, 1 fold

Turn: ($3.05) 3 (2 players)
UTG bets $1.90

Would he fire on the turn with hands like AK, AQ after getting called on the flop? I didn't think the flop hit his range.
