Not a bad day despite my above post.. 251 hands +33.88.. 1672 hands so far this month, only up $21... I made some really god awful river calls for big bets and that has killed my month so far... it's probably cost me 2.5 buyins or so. After doing some review, recording my session, and reading through keyser112's pooh-bah post.. I think I'll be settling in now and will have a solid rest of the month.

Then you must be giving up on aweful lot of flops when your 3bet is called by a nit and you don't flop a set with your overpair. You are better off not 3betting your KK then.

You are out-levelling yourself. It really doesn't matter that much that they are nits. This is 5NL. The fact that the guys are 5NL nits doesn't really mean that they don't make mistakes in calling 3bets, or that they flop a set on every flop, or that they bet only when they have nuts in 3bet pots (when flop is checked down). You have KK in a 3bet pot and there is no ace on the flop. Bet the flop

P.S. It's kinda ironic that in the previous KK hand you posted you manage to shove all in drawing almost dead and go broke after meeting resistance on the flop, while the other KK hand you just roll over and give up without facing any significantly strong postflop action. Of course, the hands are not comparable and let's not be results oriented (and really, the first hand was played fine), but do not be a slave to your HUD and maybe try to play each hand optimally?

^^ mhmm i would of gone all in vs 1... vs 2 nits i just didn't know what to do.. as it turned out they both had ak which made me scratch my head when i checked my HH.. stove says im 35% to win if i give them a range of 10's-qq,ako/aks... should i be giving 10/7's over 250-500 hand samples anything else?... i dont play much 5nl anymore so im use to nits calling in 3bet pots here set mining or calling with ak etc

if you bet the flop and get shoved u call all day?

I think that, even if they are nits, they can have AK, AQ, QQ, maybe even AJs sometimes, maybe even KQs sometimes, some lower pocket pairs, etc. Many nits are bad in that they can't let go of some of their starting hands preflop when they are 3bet, and I would suppose that some of them love set-mining so much that they can call 3bets in MW pots with middle PPs because they think they have implied odds vs 2 opponents. Yes, we are worried about JJ and TT, but they will soon let you know if one of them has it.

Personally, there a very very few flops that I'd think of not c-betting in this situation: for example an ace-high flop (and not simply because I am afraid they have an ace, but more because I can't get value with KK from their worse hands on ace-high flops).

Of course, if a nit check-raises or shoves on this flop or check-raises turn, it's time to re-evaluate. I don't call all day.
04-07-2011 , 06:10 AM
cool.. so bet to shove every non ace/q turn would be your line?... what if both of them called how would that change your line of shoving turn if that was your play?
04-07-2011 , 06:17 AM
i am a mtt guy from now on. **** the chase for gold at the 3.4 stts. they suck cause of obv. the very high rake.

I think the goal is wrong.

Cheeseburgers to value meals is the wrong idea - fries are overrated. You don't need soda either - drink some water to counterbalance the unhealthiness of the burgers.

All you all really want is simply more and more cheeseburgers in perpetuity.

What are the actual odds on flopping this?

I need to bet more earlier. The money is going in anyway.

Given that you have any two cards of a Royal Flush, the odds of flopping the 3 cards you need, in any order is ...

(50/3) * (49/2) * 48 = 11,433.33 : 1

Edit: Combine with the odds of getting dealt 2 cards of a RF ...

(52/16) * (51/4) * 11,433.33 = 473,768.75 : 1

So you can expect it to happen to you about once every 473K dealt hands ...

I had one of those PLO sessions which remind me why I hate the game sometimes. Went up a few buy-ins. Actually made a mistake as I saw a fish online and searched his tables and joined the waiting lists. I got seats in the games and I didn't pay attention to it until I got a hand which I raised with as I had position and I couldn't understand why i'd made 6bb and I was sitting with 200bb. Then I realised I was playing 0.05/0.10 by mistake Anyway, I was up a bit in the session, then started running horribly, i'll have to check equities but I know I ran a few buy-ins under EV at least. Managed to make some back and finished +$11 after 1200 hands.

I saw the fish had a big stack. Then I realised after I raised that I was playing PLO10. It's not always great to stack off here but this guy's a fish and I knew he didn't always have a 7x or 66 in this spot. Fortunately I had a bit of run good.
