I swear my goal this month is to play as terrible and undisciplined as possible.
04-05-2011 , 08:30 PM
I think i have developed fancy play syndrome.

First hand against a super aggressive LAG reg who i've gotten into alot of 3/4/5 bet war with. 2nd hand against a passive fish. Note to self: Never try to bluff a passive fish.

Since the swings that are common in NL ring games are not something I enjoy, I have been working on my PLO8 game (full ring sitting with 60BBs).

Small sample still but after 2k hands of playing (usually just a single table to insure Im playing properly), I have yet to drop a stack to a bad beat.

Usually what happens is instead of scooping the whole pot, you win half the pot and the other half you split with villain. Typical hand I just played...

Once I get more exp I will be buying in full and switching to 6max and adding tables. So far my standard deviation in these games is half of what it is in my NL game.

If anyone is looking for a lower variance form of big bet poker I suggest giving the game a look. (I got started by reading Dan Deppen's book.)

The game is kind of slow going at this point. Lots of folding and obv the more you fold the more your graph goes on the downslope but eventually you get a good playable hand and you get paid whenever you connect with the flop. 2k hands and Im up almost 200 big blinds. I plan on keeping my progress udated so we will see.

So far its pretty fun and thats half the battle with growing a bankroll.

Indeed. To be fair though you have a fairly unbalanced range here I think. Your flop raise could easily be the NFD. Your turn bet is kinda meh as far as betsizing and the river is just laying him a great price to pick off your missed flush draws.

But yea, never bluff the passive fishies. They don't have a fold button. They are all about the showdown.

My read on him was, if he bet small he had a marginal hand. I thought i could push him out. Turned out he had a strong hand on the flop. By the river he had 3rd pair. He shouldn't think i had a flush draw especially since he was the one with the nut FD.

I would probably play KQ the same way. Maybe except i would've bet a little bigger.

But yea bluffing a station was my first mistake.

I dabbled in it too and yeah the swings are ridiculous... It's beatable at the micros for sure. But I'm no Omahaha expert by any means so I can't tell you how lol.

Up $20 in 20 min shortstacking PLO10 rush. I buy in for $5, and so far last 2 days Im up $37, and have only lost one stack, a $18 pot but it was a cooler, guy hit runner runner straight on me. This hand is evidence of the play, Im a huge PLO fish, but I think this guy played it worse, theres no way Im folding this hand, esp on this board.

Now that is what I call being owned.

Had a few fish crying because I was multitabling and taking time on another few tables. They were crying in chat - zzzzzz, omgs, wtf is this? ZZZZ etc..

Next hand lol, I look down at AA and shove all in, the 3 of them call. Shut up in future and thanks.

As a single tabling fish ... I hate you

Really, if you're timebanking enough that people are zzzzzzzzzzing you, you're probably playing too many tables ... and the fish that are calling you out will find other tables.

Does Badugi count in the Take 2 bonus?

Probably.. I think it just says ring games.

Yeah, I just wondered.

I'll give it a go on Friday and hopefully get that tick. If not, I'll just Rush it. The last time I played NL on consecutive days was the last T2 bonus lol.

That's the issue though I wasn't going into the allotted time bank. I was using the seconds I was allowed to when it came to a decision.

Probs should have bet more on the flop, but the table had been folding my usual raises with sets, so I decided to just put 0.04 then 0.10. I knew the ace had hit him, should have shipped it there possibly.

Do you even really need a HUD for 2NL? I was checking over a few things, noticed a few mistakes I was making and I've changed. Over the past two days I've stuck religiously to the sticky topics on beating the micros and found it incredibly easy. I've made about $20 in two days playing about 6-7k hands in all honesty.

It isn't that I'm hitting everything on the flop, it is simply sticking to the topics that have been created, getting away from hands with re-raises on the turn and river etc. I had found it difficult before getting away from two pair. I've folded sets depending on the board and have made money so far.

I can honestly say thinking back I may have won $3 odd with luck. I think that was AJ Vs QQ and I flopped an ace, but other than that I've been getting my money in good and it has all paid off. I've been surprised. Now watch as people say it will change...>_>

I've taken a few bad beats, folded KK, when an ace has came on the flop depending on the bet size etc. AA beat by KK etc, all that. Meh.
