Do whatever you feel best doing. If you play just to make a bit of money and don't have aspirations to go higher than stick with where you are.

Why take $300+ swings? Because sometimes you have to risk money, to make money If you don't want to have those swings then you play lower, but obviously won't get on the good side of it either.

As for your leaks; your leaks at NL10, may not be leaks at NL25. Learning to beat NL10 won't mean that you can take your NL10 game to NL25 and beat it straight away. You might do of course, but there's no guarantees.

man i hate downswing sessions..... just won 42% of showdowns...

k high flush vs str8 flush ott.... str8 vs higher str8.... kk vs flopped full house in a 3bet pot on a 2-2-4 board etc etc etc.... like just dumb dumb dumb argg *pulls hair*

My massive heater has cooled off somewhat. I gave back a serious chunk of the downswing after running into successive coolers, and actually moved down a bit, but things turned around. I'm now down about 30% from my previous upswing. Still think I've been playing decently, but have just run into a few coolers. If I lose a big pot I'll generally stop playing for a few hands to go over the hand again while it's still fresh in my mind. I'd say 90% of the time I conclude I got my money in good and was making the correct call. I still need to work on my bet sizing. I seem to be betting a bit too small on the flop, which is keeping some marginal hands in the pot.

But argh - nothing worse than raising pre with mid-pocket pairs, flopping a set, and getting called down by a guy that completed from the SB with 93o and hits 99 on the turn and river to out-set you....followed by the entire table folding to you in the BB with pocket kings.

Is it just me or has the $0.50/$1.00 tables on PS turned in to super-nits? I really have to hunt to find the tables with known fish. Previously you could sit down and be guaranteed to have a couple of 45/3 fish. I was on a table last night where it seemed like everyone was 12/10 or 10/8. Widening my range a bit didn't seem to help. Sure, I take down a few blinds here and there but found I ran into tricky spots the minute I get 3-bet in to. If a guy has only played 3 hands in over 90 hands, we pretty much have to insta-fold to any 3-bet unless we have KQs or better, no?

I decided to return home to PLO5. I was surprised how weak people play, I was able to get my bluffs through. Sadly I wasn't running so great. I finished up a buy-in, the last hand happened as I was just quitting my tables. I see no reason not to raise for value - it didn't even tilt me. I think i'll play some more PLO5 in future seeing as the standard wasn't great. Here's some of my hands.

I decided to open with a double suited hand in position. Flop was ok for me and so I decided to fire. Turn kind of improved my hand but I was a bit worried about better Jx hands. I couldn't just call so decided to get it in and leave it up to the PLO gods. I thought I had a ton of equity against the worst case scenario of sets. About 53/47 for me.

This kind of sucked. I was thinking of firing on turn but decided to check it. River kind of seemed a good spot to raise, SB really tanked. I can't really fold to the all in, it just sucked as I was about 2 hands away from quitting my session up 2 buy-ins and I lost a buy-in like this.

Are you being serious with snapfold KQ? Because I would but I play 5/10NL and didn't want to give advice to someone playing 10x above my level.

But I fold that, im a nit.

I said that table selecting has gotten a lot harder recently at 100nl. You're saying...it's a lot harder than I'm making it out to be...?

What am I missing? Or am I being whooshed?

im saying that if you could previously 'sit down and be guarenteed to have a couple of 45/3 fish' then u were running in table selection godmode as ssnl hasnt been that soft for a long time

PLO5 has been quite kind to me. I don't know if people have gotten worse or maybe i've improved (which is probably more likely) or a bit of both. Just played another 400 hands and made 3 buy-ins. So that's 4 buy-ins for the day over 1100 hands.

I probably could have found a 4bet. Vs AAxx i'm in pretty good shape, I got it in, it was a flip I was a slight dog and lost.

A pretty nice flop for my hand. I couldn't really check re-raise on the flop. It'd have looked way too fishy so once BTN puts in the flop raise I pretty much just have to call or else I turn my hand face up. I go for the turn check-raise as BTN had the lead and after firing a large % of his stack in I put villain all in.

My call on the river was bad, I know. But I think I bet my hand pretty hard all the way to prevent any draws from getting there. Also the villain wasn't playing that loose, so I just couldn't put him on a draw. The way he played it it did indeed seem like he was drawing, but he could also be slowplaying an overpair in this spot right? When the Q fell on the river and he pushed I knew he had a straight, I just knew it. Don't know why I called, I guess I just couldn't believe he had played a draw that way. Worst case scenario maybe JJ.

I mean who the **** chases a gutshot like that?? T8 is also a possibility, but like I said he wasn't playing _loose_ so there's no way he would call pre with that.

TILT!

Last update from me: I saw some good games running (as in people had money) and I was deliberating playing. I wasn't really in the mood for playing at this time as I wasn't in the mood for possibly losing money but I decided to have a go. I wasn't playing great at first and lost about a buy-in. I made it back and about another $7, decided I wasn't playing my best and quit after 300 hands.

I puke called on the flop, I wasn't thrilled about it but figured I might have some equity. I was in much better shape than I thought as I had my flush outs and both villain blocking each other for full house outs. 45% 3 way isn't bad.

lol, this was pretty funny because it was blind vs blind. I probably shouldn't really check-raise the flop just because it's so likely villain could just be trying to bluff me in a blind vs blind spot. I decided to check-raise the turn after villain bet a decent size and the river's standard.

I decided to open on the button with a ds hand. Flopping NFD with a pair I bet and after villain's check-raise it's too cheap to fold. I wasn't really sure about raising turn just because I could scare off smaller flushes but it didn't seem to bother this villain.
