I'm pretty sure this has been my biggest leak in my last 150 games or so, as i started opening up a bit yesterday and had some better results, so we'll see how tonight goes.
The tourneys didnt go how i had hoped.. the gf had an accident roller blading so we took a trip to the er.. did manage to turn around my sngs a bit, but ran really weird. Had almost no big pp's, and constantly missed ak aq type hands.. but when i got short and was shoving sc's... i was hitting everything. Ended up about 25-30 on the day. Could have been more but i played a 5.50 sng.. then about half way through i was disconnected and couldnt reconnect. br around $145

I would like to throw a couple specific situations out their. One is playing a flopped set. For simplicity we will assume that all pots are heads up. Ok lets say bob raises pf and you call to set hunt. Then as the the great bill fillmaff would say bingo bang bongo you flopped a set. In the past i would just bet pot but i have found that at 2nl it is more +ev to just shove. You don't really need to make massage bets as they will stack off with such a wide variety of hands. I guess what i'm trying to say is when you hit a big hand don't pussy foot around. Thats something that most micro players seem to do. They get a big hand and make tiny little bets because they are scared ****less of the other guy folding. I find it kinda funny when some dude shows down a monster like a str8 on a non flush or paired board and win like 12 cents

FWIW I've been reading these "grow a BR from $0" threads for a little and messing with my own little attempt to do this on the side. I was actually going to post this when I made it to 5k, but I'm going back for my MBA and I really won't have time for my regular game, much less this. Basically I don't want to do it anymore, I'm bored. Figured I'd post it in case anyone cares what mid-stakes guy might do at these. Yada yada sample size yada yda I know.

I actually started with a functionally unlimited bankroll, but in this case I didn't need all that much (I was never down more than $10). I played these over the course of a few months, 5- or 6-tabling. Obviously I didn't do this very often (23k hands in 105 days, that's about all I could stand). Here are graphs in bb and $.

My advice to those of you having trouble:

1) Stop bluffing
2) Stop calling big river bets when you're not sure, because you're beat
3) Stop poo-flinging
4) Stop chatting
5) Stop over-estimating your fold equity... you don't have much

Also I tried to massive multi-table NL25 for a little while there after seeing some dude on CR do it, guess where

but..

3) Stop poo-flinging
4) Stop chatting
5) Stop over-estimating your fold equity... you don't have much

Hi all. Im new to 2+2, but I stumbled across this thread and decided to sign up. I've been doing something like this on and off, and recently had to withdraw my bank roll to meet some untimely bills. So I have 61.99 at bodog and $36 on full tilt. zip on on pokerstars and UB as I took all my cash from them. Anyways I'd like to join you guys and see how well I do as i have to start all over anyways. and I do love these kinda threads. Any ways..High all!

Daut's video is great, I know the exact one you're talking about. But 16+ tabling is not something you can just jump right into w/o a ton of practise and easing yourself into it.

I'm sure you know that though.

sweet graphs gonzo. i'll have to check out that vid, what a trip

Whats your play here? Do I re raise? If so how much or do I flat call and see what comes on the flop?

Advice on these hands is where I think I may leak some money.

Results will be posted after I get some advice.

Just call you have position. Use it to your advantage

I'm joining you guys on this as of today. I deposited $50 on Poker Stars today. Wish me luck!

I'm starting out with NLHE .02/.05 - 6 max and some small sit-n-goes

you should not be playing .02/.05 with only 10 buyins (5 if you play deep). I'd stick with 2nL buying in for ~2.50 til you reach 100.00

Yeah it was Daut44. I should point out that I'm primarily a live mixed-game type of guy, and online I was never one for playing lots of tables. My 5/10 winrate online is just over 1.8bb/100 6-max, and HU I'd be breakeven if not for rakeback (I usually drop down to play HU where I'm doing pretty well). So playing a bunch of tables for me would basically be suicide and I'm certainly not accustomed to it.

However these limits I could basically do in my sleep. I think it might have even helped me to have to rush a little, so I wouldn't think too deep.

I just do max. buy in .. but playing very tight and nitty on the lowest stakes (i don't play deep, thats just to scary with my bankroll haha)

I'm at 67$ now.. damn i want to hit my first hundred

This nitty tight style is really slow But it works for me .. I am def. not a gambler.. Would love to be one, but it's just not me.. (okay maybe i am, but a gambler without a bankroll is like a alcoholic with no beer)

Is this strange?

im trying the same thing
about 3 weeks ago i deposited $20 on to cdpoker my bankroll now stands at $204.08 im playing .05/.10 7stud and .02/.04 nlhe

my only problem was bankroll management i think i have that sorted now
when i first deposeted i was playing $2 6man sng,s then $5 ones
i got my roll up to about $145 than after a bad run where i didnt cash in about 15 games i bought in to some $20 ones and lost and i was left with about $12

i ran it up again to about $130 then lost it all apart from $5
thats when i stopped playing sng,s and ran it up again

now i buy in to 7stud with about $3 and holdem with $2

To be honoust.. My first month ive lost 100$ by making stupid mistakes witch i allready knew (playing pairs on cashgames and keep on calling or bluffing..stuff like that) or i didn't know at all .. Bankroll management?
I had never heard of that
But know i knew what it is i am doing a lot better.. I dont lose big pots, and the big pots i am in ..i mostly win..cause ..yeah.. Im a nit haha

Now i'm slowly building it up. Not trying to win it back. No, No, No.. Just building it up and playing good straight forward poker.. I rather win 5$ today.. or nothing at all.. then risking 10$ making stupid loose calls witch i just can't afford

I reset Pokertracker, cause now i have the feeling i am in my game and i want to my see results from now on, not from the stupid idiotic mistakes i made last month

Other thing i do. I stop playing so much.. I played like 10 hours a day, so yeah.. It's normal i lose cause i lose focus and get crushed by people who are playing the game fresh

I have made the deal with myself i want to win 5$ each game i enter.. If its some more.. Cool.. If im getting down to much i quit.

After making my 5$ or more ..I just stop playing.. going to walk the dog, reading some books or magazines.. Or go watch some tv

Then, when poker isn't even in my mind anymore.. i can play fresh and good poker.. And i try to win 5$ again..

I rather build it very slow then making a gamble out of it just to hit the 1000 fast
05-11-2008 , 10:36 AM
$177.55, Saturday was not good to me. Down from $219.35
05-11-2008 , 10:38 AM
ah you will be fine.. Im stuck at 70$ at the moment.. hope i win something..

cause it's really slow at the moment

but ehmm
you went from 0$ tot 219$ ?

In how many weeks/months ?
05-11-2008 , 10:55 AM
About a month a few days over.
05-11-2008 , 11:31 AM
Nice

what did you win on a daily basis?
05-11-2008 , 11:55 AM
I played four tables of 2NL six-max this morning, lost $3 right away by trying to bluff some folks (carrying cbets too far, mostly...) but I settled down and started hitting some hands across four tables, and so ended up for the session about $4.40. That's not something I'd care to try all day long at 2NL... lots of action on 4 tables 6max. Up $4.50 for the day, BR now at $45. I'm in the pokercast freeroll today, hoping to hit the FT in that one, since I went pretty deep last week, and intend to play a $5.50 SNG sometime today.
05-11-2008 , 12:12 PM
Dont bluf at these stakes! haha
I have gotten this advice from here and it is true
They will call you, they don't understand what you are trying to represent

Straight forward ABC poker with sometimes a little C-bet .. thats how you got to play at this stake
05-11-2008 , 12:20 PM
I don't know the daily wins, I had some brutal days that brought me way down though. How do you get into the pokercast freeroll? I'd like to play on two sites if I could.
05-11-2008 , 12:22 PM
Okay.. I'm up again .. Finally know how to play at stakes like this..

I made another bluf and lost. DATAKID STOP BLUFFING AT THESE STAKES !!!!!!!

and now i have +, thank god

I don't know about the freerolls.. On FT they are nice, i won 20$ with it, 4 final tables
05-11-2008 , 02:06 PM
I know I've got a long way to go to build a respectable bankroll but after last nights session I'm up $10.70.
