when im about to bluff in home games i frequently take a long time, usually i feel this is such a big tell i give up. what i want 2 know is this that bigger tell???

As long as you start dwelling up with the nuts, no it's not.

Tells are generally not universal, unless they're subconscious bodily movements or something like that.

A lot of guys I play with live like to take a long time when they're betting on monster hands, the thought process being that if players see them thinking long and hard, they'll seem weak.

I've never really seen a bluffer consistently take a while to think about his bluffs, so no, I don't think it would be a huge tell at all.

It does depend on what you're doing while you take your time though- if you start sweating, start picking your face, making noises, etc, it's going to be pretty obvious.

People love to call. Just make sure you are equally quirky (think a long time, have darty eyes, etc) with your value bets and don't worry about it!

If you only do it on bluffs you bet it's huge.

I have a buddy and he had something similiar. Anytime he had a good hand he would bet, raise or call quickly. Whatever it was he did it without hesitation. But when he made a hand like middle pair or was on a draw he would delay as he thought about odds and outs and stuff. Might as well just turn his cards face up.

Since he needed time to think in some situations I told him he needed to also take a little time when the decision was easy. This way the timing of his actions wasn't giving away the strength of his hand.

So, as others have said. If you also delay betting with a very strong hand or evne just any value bet, it will disguise when you pause before bluffing.
