What should my BB defence range look like, given that the micros have high rake and I have a high chance of misplaying the bottom of my range?

It depends on what the opponent's BB attack range is

If you think the rake is too high then don't play

If you think that you're going to wank off several BBs trying to protect one with any sort of garbage, what alterations do YOU think you should make?

Seems like another "fear of being exploited" thread which is for all intents and purposes meaningless in the micros

MMAsherdog and AlvinTeachesPoker say that rake is on of the most important considerations for preflop ranges at the micros, so that's where I got the idea from and I'm not going to argue with them.

The point is I don't know what I think, because if I'm learning the game then I have no idea whether what I'm thinking is right or wrong, which is why I'm asking for opinions. I don't see what you are getting so upset about, the forum is called beginner questions, wtf do you expect to find here?

You may be learning the game, but that doesn't mean you should expect people to spoonfeed you everything. In an actual game, you've not got someone holding your hand telling you exactly what to do (although some of the HUDs dependent players use make it pretty ****ing close), you need to think for yourself.

So I ask you again - you're playing a range of hands. Naturally, the weakest part of your range is likely to be those that are barely break even and marginally profitable to play, assuming said range is accurate. You've got a fear that with these sorts of hands, you may butcher them postflop. That's understandable as a newer player, especially when in the spot you describe, you're going to be out of position. As such, what is the logical thing to do with these cards?

It's important to consider who opened. UTG will open much tighter than BTN.

Here's a few equilibrium solution for 4.5% rake uncapped, 100bb deep.

vs 2.5bb BTN open:

vs 2.5bb UTG open:

The GTO 3bet ranges are quite polarized due to high rake.

Something else to pay attention to is the size of the open. Your calls need to be getting the right price. The following charts assume very low rake, but they get the point accross.

BB vs 2bb BTN open:

BB vs 3bb BTN open:

just a note, 4,5% uncapped rake is absurdy high and I doubt that it exists on any reputable platform (I think GG used to have uncapped rake in their early days, but fortunately they moved on from that), so solving for it might not be the best idea
