Re: ***bHUNLA WEEK 2***

actually, **** my 2c earlier. OB makes a good point by referring to the rules, that's why they are there in the first place.

if we deviate, what happens during future game weeks if something similar happens? changing the rules sets a precedent, that might cause further problems in other game weeks.

looking at it:

whufc_booker vs newluck & SamStark v something fishy - looks hopeful they will go down tonight. if not the rules give them 24 hours to pm the commish, and it seems all parties are showing willing so the extension would apply.

mark89er v deytar - less clear but mark has said he's free most of the time, so deytar would need to make a case to the commish for an extension if both players agree.

tbob v AFM - radio silence from AFM means he forfeits unless he gets in touch within 24 hours. possible replacement player needed for future game weeks.

it does disrupt each game week being consecutive if there's an extension but w/e.

edit: woot game in progress

Yeah whufc_booker said he would be back and able to play in what will be ~ 2 hours from now. So hopefully we will play around then

Re: ***bHUNLA WEEK 2***

Something Fishy you played well imo, prolly had the edge, but it is hard to say, very evenly matched. The only blunder you made was 4-bet calling w/ A2.

Also, when you had KJ and Sam had K8, you were putting him on KQ but he would be 3 betting KQ pre flop, so he never/rarely has that hand. I think your call is good tho, just a cooler.

Good match guys.

It does make the TBob vs AFM result really important tho. I'd rather we won by winning matches, but tbh I'll take it anyway i can get it, just ask my mrs!

I honestly play better when there is a lot on the line (in sports, music, poker) so I really do want to play this rather than accept a forfeit...

Wait, you didn't hear that leo

i actually agree, although i just copied the micros rules as a guideline. But in saying that the rules are there for everyone to see. I just hate to see a match being decided in that way. I am waiting to hear from AFM as this seems out of character and he may have real life problems to take care of

looking at it:

whufc_booker vs newluck going ahead IRC & [SamStark v something fishy- played IRC] - looks hopeful they will go down tonight. if not the rules give them 24 hours to pm the commish, and it seems all parties are showing willing so the extension would apply.

mark89er v deytar - less clear but mark has said he's free most of the time, so deytar would need to make a case to the commish for an extension if both players agree.

I think this is deytar having trouble scheduling due to college/uni etc. This is understandable. Mark is willing to extend so im waiting on deytar to contact me

tbob v AFM - radio silence from AFM means he forfeits unless he gets in touch within 24 hours. possible replacement player needed for future game weeks.
this

it does disrupt each game week being consecutive if there's an extension but w/e.

edit: woot game in progress
I hope all of these problems get resolved easily and i dont want to be a PITA of a COMMISH. But the rules where set. Im not going to award any points until iv heard from AFM though. gona set up week 3 and ask for this to stay open until all matches are resolved for week 2

This is a very good point about sticking to the rules, otherwise people will be wanting to change all kinds of rules.

Another quote from the rules, decipher this how you wish:
Quote:
If a player does not complete all matches, his or her $10 will given to that players team to compensate them for their team mate's slacking.
Obviously I'm biased because I'm super competitive and want to win, but it seems like their team mate's slacking would hurt the team, aka a forfeit, and the players on that team would receive that money to compensate them for that. However, it's not clear, so it can obviously be interpreted different ways.

Yeah the $10 flake deposit would be split among the rest of the team when they complete all their games and get their own deposits back

Re: ***bHUNLA WEEK 2***

I probably should have mentioned this before the match, but hey, I shouldn't be too much of a busybody... anyway, to consider for coming weeks:

-The one logical flaw in the flake deposit scheme is that, once a player has forfeited their flake deposit, there's no further incentive to meet future match obligations... except for the fact that personal responsibility would prompt us to complete our matches regardless of the deposit.

-I hope everyone understands that they should fulfill all matches, even if a team no longer is in a position to win a round, or if the team is too far behind to make the final two, because there's more to this than just determining a team winner... I think we all want the opportunity to match up with several of the regular posters... and the experience of fighting tenaciously regardless of personal results, because in poker we play to do our best regardless of how the cards fall. So... if we're going to forfeit deposits, that should be equally true even for a player who is facing a 0-4 team match record, 0-4 personal record, and 0-4 round score... you still should be there to play it.

Barring personal life issues, of course, as college, family, and other obligations trump ten bucks, peer pressure, and a mostly "for fun" contest.

I could not agree any more with this post. No competitive player should ever back down from a match no matter bad the situation is (with the exception of personal life issues)

Zadignose, go ahead and have my babies.
