My friend played this stupid hand. where he 5bet half of his stack planning to fold to a shove.

Effective stacks are 1000$

Action goes like this:

Villain raise to 30$, Hero raise to 100$, Villain raise to 200$, Hero raise to 500$.

If Villain shove all-in.. what pot odds Hero is getting?

Is it 4 to 1 or 3 to 1

Do we count his bet into the total pot size he wins?
1000+500+500/500
or just the actual size of the pot?
1000+500/500

First of all, if ur friend is 5bet/folding, he DEFINITELY should not 5bet to a massive amount like $500..
Actually u should probably tell him to never 5bet/fold cuz its ******ed

Now im not great at math, so someone correct me if im wrong but:
i think hes getting 4 to 1 becuz hes callin 500 to win 2000 pot
so needs to b good at least 25% of the time

vs JJ+,AK JTs/98s has 28%, Axs has 29%, Kxs has like 26%..even A2o has slightly over 25%
So I dont c how he can even fold at this point when hes made the 5bet half his stack

I think its 4 to 1, when having 4 to 1 pot odds you need to be good 20% to break even

More of a snap call then.. Theres like nothing that even has lower than 20% vs villains range

There is 1500 in the pot and you need to call 500. You are getting 3 to 1. You need 25% equity to break even.

He is getting 3-1 for a call. At the time he is making the decision about calling, there is 1500 in the pot. He has to put in 500 to win that 1500. Pot odds are calculated by taking the amount in the pot and dividing by the amount to call. The amount you call is not part of the pot at that time.

In this hand, my friend figured that Villain would only shove AA and KK, my friend had 89o, he has 18% vs AA and KK, then he shouuld fold.

also, ur friend was actually thinking that villain would 4bet QQ/AK n then fold it to 5bet?

hes getting 3:1 (1500:500) as others have said, when i first saw 4:1, i literally got up to get a pen and paper to make sure i wasnt going crazy haha

and he shouldnt be investing half his stack on a pure 5bet bluff unless theres some crazy dynamic, even then V's range shouldnt be capped at KK/AA
