Pretty beginner question for someone who's played over 30,000 hands at 2 and 5 NL, but what amount would you recommend for Microstakes up to 25NL?

Upswing will suggest 100+ but that seems very conservative

Blackrain79 suggested around 50 but that also seems fairly high

I play a fairly tight game and don't just 'punt' off my stack in every situation,

What would everyone suggest?

Bankroll management is a term used by professionals.

If you are not a professional poker player AND it is easy for you to reload cash onto the site(s) you play....then a session's worth is the only requirement for you to keep online. Prevents losing money when a site goes belly up... and perhaps help with tilt control. (tilt control help if when you get stuck, you choose to play higher to "recoup your losses. with a bare minimum in your purse, this type of tilt control may be helpful).

4 buy-ins seems right.

IF it is difficult to reload, then maybe 10-15.

((caveat: I played as an amateur a decade ago on Full Tilt with 100 BIs. 1. not easy to reload and (2) never felt I faced a Risk of Ruin scenario....so I could simply play poker without the thought of playing with "scared money". Taking a 54% ahead bet can get complicated if you are low on funds.))

Sorry, maybe a better lesson for you would be to guide you to the upper right of the main page (the listing of all the open threads in the Beginners area).

There (upper right) is a Search This Forum tab.

I clicked it and the search "bankroll management" revealed links to 250 relatively current threads where BRM is discussed.
